Surely if we're talking about 80's pop acts, The Human League deserve a go before Aha?

I saw the Human League at Bestival a few years back. It was great for what it was - a midnight-ish set in the Big Top just after the main stage finished with a nicely drunk crowd and them absolutely milking both the songs people turned up for (Don't You Want Me and Together In Electric Dreams) with extra choruses, singalongs, etc.

But I wondered at the time - could they even be sucesfully placed at Glastonbury? Can't see anything sober/early in the day working nearly as well and I can't see where they'd fit in later on.

Would they be that much more expensive than e.g. Bananarama?

Would imagine so. Human League are playing large Concert Halls and Arenas at 50 quid a pop.

There's no accounting for taste! But yes, The Human League should be booked and OMD too, both fine live acts.

Why not Pyramid early-ish in the day? The Proclaimers slot.

That's a plausible booking, but wouldn't be half as much fun as later in the day when people have a bit more alcohol in them though.

It would be more fun to actually be there rather than watching another, more modern band.

I have fond memories of listening to a-ha coming out of my brother's bedroom in the 80s and like all of the songs mentioned by the good professor. But if any of the bands clash that I actually listen to rather than enjoy when they're on, then Morten and the lads won't get a look in. I highlighted Bananarama in 2019, but did I see them? Did I fuck, I was probably* watching a modern band, or getting some food before the headliner. For the Proclaimers, I was there, chilling out and enjoying the band before bimbling around. I've never seen them before despite us both going to the festival many, many times.

* Just checked, that's exactly what I was doing, Vampire Weekend, followed by food, followed by a good spot for The Cure, for a set where I knew every song.

They are touring Europe in ‘22, final date in late May in Brum, so every chance they’d be available. Could see them early doors on the pyramid, or Avalon headliner...

Sub Other before Pet Shop Boys. Amaze.

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
    • Interesting the stat guys say 3 points and -3 goal difference is where it gets to 50/50 territory in terms of going to the last 32. If Scotland lose their last 2 at best they are on -1, play like they did yesterday and they could take a heavy loss.   However thinking about it positively get 4 points from the last 2 games and the group is won! Have heard a few saying Scotland should just park the bus next 2 games, but not sure they have the players to do it. From my perspective they could really do with a decent defensive midfielder to add balance, but not sure if they have one in the squad. They also need significantly more from Mctominay who I thought was poor, but understand he has been unwell.
    • Yup and they aren't all going to get them, some are going to miss out. Speaking of this, I met someone at RIP who went to RFP and his view was band wise it's value for money but it wasn't a festival itself he'd be rushing to return to. In fairness as well he probably liked more of the headliners there than me this year whereas I was more undercard and he wasn't returning.
    • Maybe Starmer's legacy will be a war with Russia.
    • How were GnR? Seen some videos and pictures and let's just say, the crowd to the sides at the front and in front of the sound tents were let's just say... Sparse compared to LB.
