Something of an omen given the whole point of the current primary/caucuses system came as a result of the 1968 election, which was admittedly complicated for the Democrats by a resignation and an assassination, leading to a strongly contested convention.

yeah, this. What the Democrats need to do is persuade Trump sceptics that it is safe to vote for Harris (or whoever)

..and actually Biden has been pretty sh*t on foreign affairs, especially Gaza...and having Harris as VP but then giving her immigration is kind of setting her up to fail..so it's not all kudos for Joe

I was saying after he lost that Trump would be old news by now so it’s been pretty mental to see him go from strength to strength. He seemed toast after completely f**king up the midterms but then all his Republican rivals proved to be shite and just not have the charisma to take him on. DeSantis, who I thought would be the guy, absolute wet lettuce of a man.

FWIW, right wing Twitter does NOT seem happy about this. They were positively gloating at the idea of Biden saying in but the tone seems to have changed completely now. Possibly unfounded, but they seem worried now, possibly because of Kamala’s stance on abortion that will undoubtedly be rubbed in their faces and possibly ensuring a massive female turnout for the Dems.

I would have been very surprised if he had. And this even after Biden seemed genuinely upset by the shooting last weekend and was very courteous in doing a check-up call, something Trump himself talked about as a positive. So that unity message is now in the bin... granted I thought it would take more time for it to fall off a cliff.
