Yoghurt on a Stick
The problem with trying new beers is that some of them prove to be awful. The only way around this expensive mistake that I can see, is to steal the beers in the first place in order to sample them. Thoughts? Doesn't work for bottles, but I would expect most decent pubs to do tasters.

Your right, and I am very wrong. That said, and to be fair to myself, I wasn't actually being serious about stealing beer. I mean, you've got to have it pretty bad to steal beer. Even in my quite considerable alcoholic heyday it never got that bad. I actually remember the last time I stole something. I was 8 years old and stole a black and gold JPS logo'ed toy sports car when I went on a school trip to Twycross Zoo. I actually had the money to buy the toy, but it occurred to me that if I just nicked the toy then I'd still have all my money intact for future purposes. I've thought about that act many many times over the subsequent years. I don't feel guilt, but do wonder why I did what I did. It still doesn't make sense to me. 1986
honestbrew.co.uk is a great site and they do subscriptions I think. I've never had one but their Christmas advent calendar is awesome so they can put a box of treats together.
blutarsky
Halifax have a rewards offer on with Beer52 at the moment - £20 cashback when you take out a subscription. The minimum subscription is £24 a month, so you could take out a subscription and then cancel, which means you get a case for £4.
