Test kits

So with Glasto round the corner I've been thinking of what I'll be consuming and I'll be wanting to do this as safe as possible.

Anyone used test kits before and got any advice on ones to avoid, ease of use, how accurate are they etc etc.

I think I read that there is on-site tasting this year. That will be much more accurate that a DIY one.

Now... that sounds amazing! :-)

Don't think I've read anything that definitely confirms it either way - but there was a post on here 2 or 3 weeks back (maybe more now that I think about it) that suggested that A+S Police had refused to endorse it so it's not happening.

The Loop?

They weren't at Loves Saves The Day this year think they are waiting on licensing

Can’t see what their objection is myself. It’s not as if having a testing facility is going to increase usage. In fact they say that 20% of drugs tested where disposed of once the user knew what was in it.  https://wearetheloop.org/get-your-substance-tested has some info on testing.

I think I've heard they're having some problems. They've been missing at quite a few places I normally see them.

I can.

While I absolutely agree that drug testing at festivals (and town centres) can only be a positive thing, and I suspect that many of the people making the decision for the police might even acknowledge that, the remit of the police force is to enact the law as written.

Ultimately for drug testing to work, it requires the police force to actively consent to turning a blind eye to it - specifically, agreeing not to target/search people using the service which depending on how they interpret the legislation they might consider to be something they can't do.

Basically, there desperately needs to be some legislation change - that's where the real problem is. At the moment public drug testing can only exist if the police are selective in how they apply the law.

I'm sure it's a case of ignorance is bliss. We all know it happens but you rarely read about any issues with drugs at Glastonbury. I'm sure they don't want to publicise it.

Good points.  I was thinking from the point of testing good or bad.  I think we all know that Glastonbury is policed differently than a normal community in that you would have to really be flaunting use to get stopped and searched.

The problem is actually putting that in writing that you will be doing it.

Could buy and bring these (huge hassle, and also technically glass bottles which not allowed, but I imagine you'd be bringing it back with you).

Massive hassle but if you're going to be taking stuff from an unknown/unreliable source might not want any surprises.

That's the ones I've seen. Just wondered if anyone has used these.

I'd be testing before I go so no worry about glass bottles and although my source(s) are reliable I'd prefer to know for sure.

They are the ones recommended by the loop so I’d have thought they’re ok

I've used them and they worked well enough. Though I did fuck up when I put the wrong lids on the appropriate bottles.

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
