They're doing a livestream show in December. They haven't said where yet, but I wonder if maybe they'll release live audience tickets too. Would be pretty amazing..

I'm surprised to not see any attention to the new track with Elton John.  I've loved the Song Machine stuff, Momentary bliss and Aries really stand out as being as good as anything they've done to me.  The last one, where Bob Smith went full Mighty Boosh took a bit of time to grow on me.  The new one I like right up until Elton kicks in, maybe it'll grow on me.

I think Gorillaz records always take a while to work their way into my hindbrain, a bit like Radiohead albums, I tend to always really love the previous one by the time the new one I don't really get arrives.  I slept on Humanz to be honest, right up until I had a near religious awakening with Tranz led me to revisit that album and really get to love it.

I didn't want to bump the thread just to say I didn't like it. I wasn't keen the whole way through, even before Reg sang.  And it did get worse when he started.

Copper Box shows this week, but for those not in London, heard chatter there could be a few announcements around the corner.

Saw them at the O2 back in 2021 and it was one of the best shows I have ever been to. Would love to see them again, hope they do tour next year

Will be very curious to see if future shows potentially are based around full-album performances or not. Intriguing for Damon to lean further into the nostalgia crowd.

I assume it'll be around the new album (which is being debuted in full as the mystery show at the copper box)

Must admit, with the particular iconography for each record - certainly their first three records - being so strong, Gorillaz are the kind of band that could do a pretty strong The Eras Tour-esque approach to a live show.

I'd forgotten how frontloaded that Demon Days record was. Some superb early bangers.

Think I might edge it to Plastic Beach overall. But the singles were outrageous.

Plastic Beach actually took a year or two to grow on me. I was disappointed at first, believe it or not. It seemed a bit overwhelming. I can say it has aged very well now though. Saw Gorillaz back in 2021 and it was absolutely unreal. Easy contender for best show I have ever been to.

Interesting. So far it's only B-sides as an encore for the first two shows they've done in this residency. Guess we'll wait and see what happens with Monday's mystery.

Mystery show will be the new album in full with an album announcement at the end with tour dates for next year. Bet

I've heard the new album will be called The Mountain to be announced middle of next month with it being played in full at the fourth show at Copper Box. Strong Indian influences in style and artwork too.

The Indian influence is already known, was mentioned in an interview I think? Hopefully it is better than Cracker Island anyway. It was alright but just felt like a bunch of random songs.
