Thanks Oneeye.  Put the first smile on my face today.  Happy memories of some of the glorious silliness that we can find at Glastonbury as well as the serious messages.

I do like to add balance to all the serious shit, hurts my head otherwise.

I'm hoping when Trump meets Liz he gives her some top tips in interior design. Come to think of it, surely the nation should have a say in the great Royal Big Build since we're funding it; I'll give Nick Knowles a bell..........

This sort of thinking is why we are doomed for a decade.

Nah, I'm sure they'll come up with a plan for global peace and prosperity; Aleppo will be high on the agenda, especially leading up to Christmas.

Oops, silly me, I forgot, they don't give a fuck.

They could save a bit of money and do it from a kit

Fuck me, now it's changed from fantasy time to kiddie time.

And people wonder why so many can't take the left seriously.

If you think that this thread is representative of the left (or politics in general) I don't know what to say.

Apologies for the stupidity this afternoon; gin clouds one's judgement to make serious debate.

I think it's a pretty good representation, as it happens.

Some people are extremists, some people have a misplaced sense of their own morality, some people have a misplaced sense of their own self-importance, some people think deeply, and some not so much, and others don't give much of a shit but like to spoil things for others. Some might manage all of those.

:P

You're right! All of those things are exclusive to the left.

We all squeal under the same foot now though?

For my part, I have already apologised.

It's quite funny to see how defensive people get when others make (what they think are) sweeping statements about the Left, yet for the previous 30 or so pages they're quite happy to brand everyone in the Right idiots, dumb, morons, racists, sexists, illogical, bigots and so on.

One of the reasons the Democrats lost is because they can't see that hypocrisy.

Even the left should be allowed a sense of humour.  If anything the off-putting thing is that too many don't.

All tory voters want to denigrate the lives of the disabled or the unemployed?

All Labour voters are against anyone with more than the money to live on that month...?

Because the tories aren't as 'for' minority rights as Labour is, all tories are indisputably racist?

FFS.

There is more than a clear and distinct and unalterable evil about those who supported Trump.

Some people say he hates all Muslims because he's talked about a Muslim register, but isn't it just as possible to think that Clinton hates Muslims more? After all, Clinton is the one who's been dropping bombs on Muslims while Trump has been saying he'd stop killing Muslims with bombs.

Nice straw man but no my point is that people who vote for a facsist are quite literally supporting  fascism.

Help me out, I'm trying to find some evidence of this but can't.

    • Looking like will be bringing a 2-3 month old to Glastonbury next year
    • Healey's first budget with be Oct 28th
    • Been going for 10 years. Wasn't massively keen on the lineup beforehand - although as usual after some research I did start to really look forward to it. We had a brilliant time, felt more like old school Latitude, lovely vibe and we met some nice people. We saw loads but highlights for me -   Lime Garden Florence Road Jalen Ngonda David Byrne - Not a fan of him or TH really but we went out of interest and it was one of those festival shows that you'll never forget. The staging was off the scale. Eleni Drake - Up on BBC Introducing, what a haven that stage is.  Westside Cowboy Getdown Services - Probably highlight of the weekend for me. Absolutely brilliant and have booked tix for them in Bristol next year. Everything Everything - They're my favourite band so I loved it when they were added. A great start to Sunday and met loads of their fans up near the front. Alex James Britpop - We enjoyed it and Gary Stringer FFS! David O'Doherty - Saw him twice, brilliant as usual. Self Esteem - Adore Rebecca and the show was as live affirming as always.   Overall, it was such a brilliant weekend. Beforehand we said that we might give it a miss next year but I'm pretty sure that we'll be sucked right back in!
    • Me too.  Reckon they must have more this year.   Not bad is it - ended up paying same price as this year.  It still represents great value for me.  Well, until I check my bank account the Monday after the weekend.
    • Well mayors have more powers to do that sh*t...but they have to make the numbers add up.
