I hate The Eagles a bit less than most people, so they very much should have booked them up a couple of years back instead of Bob and Nob from out of The Kasabian.

I spoke to Michael about the Eagles a few years before that, at a time they were touring.

He told me he'd enquired about them, but that they wanted their standard full fee if they were going to play... and it was pretty obvious that he'd given up on them because of that.

That's unsurprising. With U2 and the Stones reducing their fee you'd maybe have expected the likes of these tools and the Mac to maybe follow suit, but I guess there's maybe less sentimentality about the place for US acts.

Like Springsteen asking for a dossier about the place because he'd never heard of it!

Have a bit of a soft spot The Eagles, although I cant remember the last time I listened to them. Saw them live once and they were excellent mind.

The Big Lebowski joke has sort of skewed peoples opinions, in a lazy way, much like the merlot joke in Sideways.

Fond memories of listening Hotel California, driving round in my customised Zephyr v6. Which really amounted to an oversize shoebox on the bonnet, fat wheels & arches, running on 4 out of 6 cylinders doing about 12 mpg. Oh the memories. RIP.

to be fair that was Jon Landau and his "Glasto-what" comment...not saying the Bruce had heard of it either, despite his "we'd heard about, we'd heard about" comment during the gig, but he at least did a bit more on site than Bono did, showing up with the Gaslights, Coma Girl...

have Hotel California on now. i have my dad's record with a $5.50 sticker still on the back

This would have seemed much worse if Bowie hadn't slipped away last year. That said, the reasons given for Frey's death have terrified me. Anyone know how rheumatoid arthritis can help kill you? Is it just because of the medications? I ask as someone who's been taking horrible, harmful drugs for a couple of years now to combat my rheumatism.

As for The Eagles, they produced a really good Greatest Hits album. I can't imagine them being much better than listening to the GH album very loudly, though, for some reason. I'm sure I'm wrong, given the testimonials here and elsewhere.

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
