Glastonbury forever?

I read an article from last year about Michael Eavis saying about 2020 (50th anniversary) will be his last Glastonbury, I know his daughter has already taken over most of it. He implied he doesn't know many years the festival has got left. Was wondering could shake out my doubts and tell me that this festival will go on forever as I'm young and only been to one so far and would like to continue going throughout my life. Does any know any stable information?

Eavis has also said other earlier dates for his last Glastonbury. I reckon he's likely to continue his involvement until he pops his clogs.

In the meantime Emily & Nick are pretty-much running everything now, and Michael's role is more as a figurehead than anything else.

I very much doubt Emily has plans to end the festival, tho to us on the outside it's not clear what might happen with the farm - tho I'd think the fact that they've recently built on Worthy Farm a new office building to house the staff who run the festival suggests it's future is assured.

This is from 2010 admittedly, but go to 6:50 to see his thoughts.

The offices plus all the years of hundreds of thousands invested in the other site infrastructure as well I reckon (water, power, draining, bridges, roads etc), which is also somewhat dissuasive when it comes to talk of moving to another site - I mean who would want to put all that in again.

I come from the future. I have stable information. All is well on the farm.

I heard that he was still able to override any planning decisions he thought of as poor and focussed more on the site design side of the festival now than bookings.

i think that even if Emily told him to butt-out he wouldn't do it, it's too much of what he's too used to doing. :P

id read somewhere that Michael was more involved in the logistics of the site now more then anything else if true that makes sense I suppose, its his farm and no one knows the sites in and outs-what can be done, what cant be done with the land better id guess.

what in a replacement to Phil Miller (who died last year) kind of a way?
