What's do folks think are the chances the set they play in Edinburgh will be the same for both nights? No chance?! I can't make Glasto this year so my only chances of seeing them will be there or Citadel. Could always just go to all 3. O_o

I'd imagine it'll be a similar set both nights with maybe a couple of changes, they don't usually change half the set each night do they? I suppose this tour might be different what with the band playing two sets.

James Blake confirmed to be West Holts Saturday night headliner (assuming he's headlining?), presumably ruling out Sigur Ros for the West Holts on Saturday?

Wasn't the general feeling that with Bristol on the Thursday and Ireland on the Sunday, Friday was always looking most likely for SR? I might have got that entirely incorrect, of course...

Yeah Friday seems more likely but then they'd clash with LCD Soundsystem which no one wants

Notwithstanding the night-to-night variation, the fact that they have said they'll be playing songs they haven't played for a long time is the most exciting thing for me. My one major gripe with SR is that each time I see them, the non-new record tracks are pulled from such a small pool.

They've been rehearsing Untitled 7!!!!

:)

This is the logical thinking yeah, but most (including myself) would consider the Friday evening the worst case scenario due to the clash with LCD Soundsystem (who will be the Friday too given Neil's info)

Not in anyway to detract from anyone else's clash issues, but that wouldn't bother me a jot, personally...hope there's a solution for all that doesn't mean SR are in a crappy slot...

Surely after Bestival they'll only play in the dark now?!

The Kveikur tour was the first time I saw them so obviously that's not something I've picked up on but yeah, it'd be nice to see some of the older tracks from () or Ágætis byrjun on the setlist.

Yeah I don't think there's any way they'll play before it's dark so if it's Friday then there's no way around that clash sadly.

They agreed to sub Bestival, they only complained (presumably) because Stevie Wonder's extra long sent ended up putting them on earlier than anyone had anticipated. So I guess a sub slot is possible (as long as Steive Wonder isn't on after).

I think they are only playing 2 sets + intermission when they are on their NA tour. I assume any events before that would mean they are playing with a full band (strings and brass) and have a support band with them for their individual shows? Checking the Edinburgh International Festival website, the show starts at 8pm, how long are they typically on for? standard 90mins?

Oh maybe, I just assumed the 8pm thing was when doors opened which fits the 8:30pm start and two sets thing but you're probably right. Both times I've seen them they've played for just under two hours.

I'd imagine the show would start at 8pm. Upon reviewing the other bands that are playing in the same venue in that festival, i.e. Mogwai's show is showing as 9pm so I can't imagine that would be the time for the doors as that would mean the show won't be over till well past midnight. Can't tell for certain though as I've never been to those shows before. It's a mystery!

Yeah - but BEstival is early September. Glastonbury is basically the summer solstice. It gets dark an hour or so later at Glasto - and I think only headliners are in the dark.
