Pukkelpop 2016

The only thing that puts doubt in my mind is that they played the festival twice before. To me you'd only really boast about the size of the headliner if it was someone a bit special who they've not had before.

Such as Prince or G'n'R, or god forbid the start of Daft Punk's world tour.

Can Dietediet translate us that?: http://festileaks.com/2016/03/lowlands-2016-komt-met-grootste-headliner-ooit/

As Dave said. google translates into spanish that Lowlands will announce on monday their biggest headliner EVER.

Foo Fighters, Eminem, Metallica... have played there... so I think that the translation is not accurate.

They do indeed write 'their biggest headliner ever'. Eminem and Metallica never played there though. Usually Lowlands refrains from booking the big acts festivals like Pukkelpop and Sziget do pick up.

So we've got pop (Rihanna) Rock (Muse).....will the other headliner be dance orientated?

Rihanna - Massive Attack - Muse

Now I'm certain.

Surely you can boast about an act instantly selling out 3 arena shows when you rarely book arena type headliners?

Yeah, suppose.

Rihanna - Chemical Brothers

Massive Attack - LCD

Muse - Jack U or Chase and Fucking Status

Where did you read about 16th March for names Dave? I'm not really on snapchat so might have missed it if it was on there.

I think we can all afford to get a bit excited now as it looks like they're going to weigh in with some big names, and that's without knowing what the under card will be. Just hope RW don't mess it up this afternoon by announcing The Chems and/or LCD.

Did see she was doing that but it could be a countdown to her birthday. I think she's having an MTV style Super Sweet 16 party (she's been tweeting about it anyway) so might be that.

Yeah, think Chems are safe but stranger things have happened!

Don't think there was much doubt they'd play anyway but Oscar and the Wolf are doing the Pukkelpop x Disco Naivete SXSW showcase in a couple of weeks. Woody Smalls and Sleepers' Reign are two other Belgian acts playing so reckon they will both be there too. Based on the fact they headlined the Marquee in 2014, OatW must sub the Main this time round. As a bit of a curve ball though, could also see them close that stage on Saturday night for a big Belgian finale.

The organisers obviously aren't too bothered about making a huge fuss of Muse or they would have coincided the announcement with Lowlands. Guess they got their big reveal with Rihanna but it wasn't exactly well received on social media. Speaking of which, we must still be a couple of weeks away from an announcement as they haven't released any details yet about the pre-sale for people who had tickets for her cancelled show. Think they will give at least a week for those people to get tickets (before they go on general sale) so hopefully we'll hear something about that this week.

It's possible that they have to wait until the Belgian Muse shows start, just like Lowlands did with the Dutch shows.

As for the special pre-sale, I don't think there will be one really in advance. But rather the way it happened in the post-2011 editions: ticket sales start 1 week after the first names, but the specal pre-sale people get 48h extra (so i.e. pre-sale on Monday, regular sale on Wednesday).

Yeah they won't announce the muse shows until after or during the Belgium shows. I think Frequency will announce them shortly. Heard a rumour they'll be playing Rock En Seine too which again makes sense as they've just played 3 sold out Paris gigs.

Now, I can see the headline structure like that:

Rihanna + Sia

Muse + NGHFB

Massive Attack + Oscar And The Wolf.

Are u expecting any curve ball? Are you expecting a big name for Wednesday? Have you heard anything in local forums? Are you surprised about the lack Of self confirmations this year?

Can't see Sia subbing, she's not that big. Afternoon Main Stage or something like that.

There won't be any day tickets for Wednesday, it's already stated on the website. So most likely a similar concept to last year's Wednesday.

Can't see any curveballs myself. The Cure would probably be the biggest surprise. The Belgium gig in November is sold out so that's not a problem and they're headlining Bestival so they are up for festivals. If they are announced for Pukkelpop then we could have the biggest set of headliners for a long, long time. A proper answer to last years critics.

But don't get your hopes up, it'll probably be shite

Sziget announcement -

-Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
- Sia
- Crystal Castles
- Aurora
- Jake Bugg
- Oscar & the Wolf
- Molotov
- Unkle Live
- Travis Scott
- JAIN
- Wilkinson live
- Excision
- Dyro
- Tourist
- Brains
- Quimby

UNKLE would be a treat. Think that Travis Scott, Sia and Jake Bugg are more than likely for Pukkelpop

Actually her popularity has grown a lot and she also have a song with more than 1 billion views on YouTube. I think it's pretty sure that she'll headline Sziget with Noel subbing her, but Sziget it's different cos has to cover a 7 days program.

Very convincing, but a fake. Equal Idiots are playing Pukkelpop as a part of 3 bands winning a Studio Brussel contest, yet no mention of the other 2 winners.

Edit: nevermind, they are there.

Edit 2: Still have major doubts over the font sizes. If Fall Out Boy, Biffy Clyro and Crystal Castles get to be in a bold font, then Oscar & The Wolf should be too. The latter sells as many concert tickets as the first three combined...
