Thursday arrival time?

This is my first Kendal Calling and my thoughts have now turned to our arrival.

What time does it all start on the Thursday? When is first band on? I'm assuming it's a cut down day with limited bands on.

Is there a busy time to avoid when there are queues on the roads or to get onto the site.

I want to get there with plenty of time to get a good camping spot and set up and relax but as stress free as possible. I've been used to the hassles of arriving at Glastonbury. Choosing your time there is critical.

Anything else we need to know that may help? Many thanks again.

Didn't go last year but in the previous couple the campsites opened at around lunchtime if I remember rightly but this year will be opening at 9am.

As with most festivals, the earlier you get there the better the spot.

From what I understood I think the thursday tickets are limited to around 12000, makes sense as it pretty much splits the full crowd in half so that you get equal numbers arriving Thursday and Friday.

Cheers ram. Hope life is treating you well sir. Planning on getting down in time for a pint before James. Still hoping for a late run on my predictions so won't need to bring much cash out with me Thursday night.

You got your wickerman ticket yet?

Thanks lads. This is excellent news. The arc like conditions seem to becoming a distant memory in my household. The "I'll never be back " brigade are starting to get excited. This 2minute news should finish the job :-)

There were two fields last year Emperors 1 and Emperors 2 - if you were in 2 your walk from car to camp was much longer, lots of people didn't expect that and some weren't happy - I think a 3pm arrival on Thurs may see you in emperors 2 Cnumb.

It was to the right from arena entrance had a sign with Emperors 2 above it, we got there at noon thurs and were parked outside 1. Managed to squeeze into 1 but there was plenty of room further down in 2, and parking continued up towards the left of the arena entrance.

Might try and get down earlier on the Thursday then although maybe I can just arrive late afternoon if I can find anyone at Wickerman who`s doing the double ;)

Perhaps they could put my tent up for me :D

I think you've more chance of platting treacle than him doing that!! :sarcastic:

That's great to hear if it's the same this year I'm happy going in emperor 2 it's a bit more space in there if it is like previous years , just pull over on the corner get folk out of the car ditch your tent then park up , yeah a bit more walk to the car but it's better in emperor 2 for sure !

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
