Foo Fighters discussion

Started this thread to discuss Foo Fighters headline slot. Whats everyone's thoughts on their potential set, special appearances (Krist Novoselic, sonic highways contributors), The Holy Shits / Chevy Metal (their incognito band names) secret sets maybe?

As its the 20th anniversary of their debut album and at such a large festival something special is defiantly in store, whats everyone's thoughts?

Safe greatest hits set with one guest I reckon - I expected loads of surprises at Leeds 2012 and it didn't happen (though I assume that was reading who got special stuff). I don't think it'd be a bad thing either, guests usually means loads of covers and I think a greatest hits set will be pretty good and get a communal feel going especially as with the supposed other options there won't be many casual viewers! saw those threads, just wanted one to discuss their actual performance and things that might happen during the weekend, not just the confirmation of them headlining and people argueing over wether its a good headliner or not.

definatly hoping for some classic rock covers they have been doing recently under other band names such as Chevy metal and The Holy Shits. reckon the sonic highways contributors will be there?

i'm hoping for the opposite - ditch the covers and replace them with some lesser played Foos songs. a greatest hits set is great, but some early-album album tracks would make the whole thing far more special. doubtful we'll get any, but i can hope

i agree with the older albums stuff, some of their heavier stuff like winnebago, weenie beenie and enough space is defiantly needed.

also they need to get Stacked Actors back in their sets. their setlists haven't looked the same since they stopped playing it a couple of years ago

Got tickets for their wembley show the weekend before Glastonbury. praying that they will be testing stuff as its one of their last shows before glasto. ill be sure to let know what the set is looking like. I'm hoping for it to not be a set full of newer sonic highways/wasting light songs (although they are still very good).

Saw them at Reading 2012 and thought their set was awesome, as a huge Nirvana fan was quite moved when he mentioned Kurt and Krist, will be there to see them unless they clash with someone I want to see and haven't seen before.

The Foos are a great band and a great live band. May not be hugely special or unique as a headliner but they'll do the slot proud!

If the Super furries are on at the same time though... I don't know what I'll do!

So many potential special guests, its definatly gonna be a good headlining slot.

looking at their recent sets they only play 3 or 4 from both Sonic Highways and Wasting Light which is fine by me. don't think the Wembley / Glastonbury setlists will vary much from what they're playing now tbh!

expecting something very similar to this, if not identical

It will definitely be a special set (as was Reading 12 for the 20 years since) as they've never headlined G before.

Seen them at the MK bowl the other year and they were immense that night, can't see that being topped for me personally and I would rather like to see The Super Furries, anyone who just likes them or even just thinks they are ok go and see them as they do out on a great show
