I'm pretty sure that first sentence says he's not far wrong when he says they won't be headlining, but he imagines they will be headlining...?

It's quite obvious, if they have a new album out and are touring what did I realistically miss out

Need everything spelt out lol.

I can see Tool playing again before the next album is released. They seem to do random tours every now & then & they're long over due a trip to Europe.

They were extremely close to playing Hellfest and the Sonisphere tour this year, it went down to the wire and then decided not to tour and concentrate on writing instead

I know, I don't think I'm far from being correct that Biffy Clyro wouldn't be a Download headliner next year and going by luckysalt saying there are no other choices, I'd imagine they would be one. Andy wasn't impressed by 2012 though and he shouldn't be as it was easily the worst I've seen them. They won't be at IOW, R&L, V or T (I know they repeat a lot but I can't see them just two years later).

I have no idea what you just said but Biffy are definitely doing festivals next Summer.

Biffy ain't headlining download in 2016.

hmm if Biffy aren't doing Download then i can't think of what festival(s) they will play. the only option left that they haven't done in the past few years is Glastonbury, and i just don't see that happening. maybe/hopefully they'll just do their own shows instead

No, never were. Said that ages, provided they are about as metalicbear says then it's either Glastonbury or BST like The Libertines but I'm not sure they'll agree to play shows that haven't sold particularly well after making that step up to headliner. Glastonbury really is the best option for them and if FF SR turns out for Glastonbury then things changed anyway from what Emily said.

But you said you won't be far wrong when saying they won't headline, and then said you imagine they will headline? Those are opposite things.

No I didn't, I said I imagine they would of been someone Download would have looked at as an option considering the whole it's easy as it's all there is tag. I've said from the very start they won't headline Download next year.

Biffy are my pick for Glastonbury. Although I'd be over the moon if R&L got them back. I know it would have only been three years, but you know, it's Biffy.

Well a certain Mr Andre gets it lol, if I had put it won't be these so that leaves Glastonbury that leaves nothing to work out and that's no fun.

While I/you and others may be wrong I've said Biffy for Glastonbury from that she start as well, it makes a lot of sense and that there is not a chance they'd take a Download headliner offer over that.

Right so from Gazza we now have:

- I won't be far wrong when I say Biffy won't headline

- I imagine Biffy will headline

- Biffy never were headlining

Sick

What you actually got instead of making stuff up is they would have been at least an option if possible given it seems they've got 'what's left'. You got the other two points correct though :P

But Lucky said it's easy cause there are no other options. So all the possible options are headlining. So if Biffy are an option they're one of the headliners. If they're an option but haven't ended up headlining then that totally goes against what Lucky said.

No it doesn't, Biffy are not an option if they've said no and turned them down are they.

If Andy wanted Biffy and they were game for it next year then they headline over BMTH without any doubt at all. Given lucky says Soni just can't get the headliners then they don't have them either, and as much as Andre would love them back at Reading after just 3 years it's not happening. There isn't a band that can be associated with it being their time to headline as much as Biffy for Glastonbury I don't think.

Could be the heavier headliner at V. 3 years since they last headlined Reading, 5 years since they headlined Sonisphere, never headlined Download before.

The only reason I said Bmth and Biffy aren't headlining is so you'd stop arguing about them/discussing them in the thread. Aah well.

Well why waste your time?, it's a 2016 headliner discussion thread, I'm hardly likely to talk about who's closing the Acoustic Tent at Glastonbury on Saturday night am I lol.

It doesn't need you to even make up Biffy aren't headlining for it to be true, you may be purposely incorrect about BMTH though.

Wow what?

It's above, there is no need for what lol.

hmm maybe, but even V's rockier headliners these days tend to cater more towards the 'lad' crowds which i'm not sure Biffy do. think they'll just repeatedly book The Killers, Kasabian, Kings Of Leon and Arctic Monkeys

i'd say Biffy are a high contender for Download, along with two older metal bands

Let me rephrase. They definitely AREN'T headlining. I told you they weren't so you'd move on to discussing people that could potentially be headlining but the argument carried on anyway.

    • Hot on the heels of outdoor gig number 1, the second arrived quickly! Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in Malahide last night (lovely sunny evening for it!). As usual, fantastic gig (ebbed and flowed from tender to feral). Since they aren't touring an album it was very different to the Wild God shows from last year, with a bunch of tracks that hadn't been played in a good while wheeled out. Highlights for me were a blistering rendition of Hiding All Away (that merged into the end of White Elephant) and a touching interpretation of A Rainy Night in Soho to close the set (well after curfew!). @Superscally, still nothing from Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! (they really must not like that album!)
    • I’m putting the 2026 code and it’s not applying the discount. Does somebody know why?
    • I think I’ve asked this before, but do we know why this is a ‘never happen’ one? I understand with Queen and Duran Duran, but I’ve never seen anything written saying one way or another if they’d do it. Would be an incredible get.
    • Here we goooo!   I never thought I'd say this at Prima Porto, famous for its rainy weather... I wish it'd be a bit colder ;D
    • I saw an interview the other day with Simon and he was asked about Glastonbury legends spot and he did say they consider themselves headliners and also said something like "The legends slot is a kind of headline slot" The actual wording might be slightly different but it gave an indication that maybe?
