Now I know people might say it's not in the spirit of things but I'm not up for camping in a tent and especially when the weather is like it is today it makes me feel even stronger about having somewhere sturdy and waterproof to stay.

Worthy View says theres is available to book from "late October" does anyone know a more accurate time or date from previous years?

I really don't want to miss out on this!!

It was 4th Nov last year. They are saying late October this time round so i would think Mon 27th Oct. I'm hoping they will bring in a deposit scheme this year but don't think it will happen!

I'll be in Nepal trudging up totally enormous mountains in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support when WV goes on sale. I think it was a week day last year, no? Stayed there last year in a scout tent and loved it - others in my group, less so. It does definitely lack the vibe of the main campsites. But the nearness of the car to the tent (5 minutes), and the tent to the end of the site where I spend most of my time (10 minutes) can't be beaten.

I think it's more that lying in a normal tent in June beyond 8am is nigh on impossible, without feeling that you're in a roasting bag. The scout tents kept nice and cool.

It was midday which was a bit random really but as good a time as any i suppose. All tents but the scout ones sold out within 5-10mins. 2 man scout tent was perfect for us two though!

Depends where you are in the field. We were lucky and were by the showers which was a 5min walk from the gate. Worst case is probably 10mins. It's downhill towards the gate though. Coming home was a different story but still worth it IMO. Especially the easy pass out system (you get a worthy view wrist band which means you don't need to carry your paper ticket abot with you all day).

Apparently its up the hill from the stone circle but you get a seperate bus to take you there from either the main glasto drop off or from castle cary

Cheap, lightweight tents are crapola when real weather hits. and we all know how real weather likes to hit our beloved glasto.

Pennard Hill Gate is at the top of the lane that runs past the Stone Circle field. It was a big site for sure, but not unfeasibly so on the ground. We were at the top end, to the left of the entrance so one of the furthest away from the entrance gate, but it still only took 10 mins or so to walk down to it.

We're looking into doing this as well.

This Glasto will be my 5th and I've worked twice and camped twice and I fancy doing something different.

The walking isn't a massive issue for me if Worthy View is as far as people say but just want to know if it is worth it (no pun intended).

It was a toss up between, Worthy View, the Tipi Field and hiring a motorhome.

Have people done all three, if so what would you recommend?

Seriously folks, we were in the field in the top left (purple scout tents) and it took 10 mins to reach Pennard Hill gate. Here is my view of the pros and cons of WV, having done general camping in Spring Ground/Hitchin Hill for 7 festivals:

• Advantages:
  • No queues getting to the car park
  • Car was parked 30 seconds walk from the entrance to WV
  • Our tent was 5 minutes walk from the WV entrance
  • You had help to carry your gear from nice young men
  • The festival gate (Pennard Hill) was a 10 minute walk downhill from our tent
  • You enter the site at the top of the stone circle field, so close to The Park, Greenfields & West Holts (plus the naughty corner)
  • Hot shower every day!! Yes, there were queues, but they went down quickly.
  • Tent next door to showers with hair dryers and straighteners, or points to use your own
  • 2 cafes for tea/coffee/brekkie/cakes (but far cheaper on site, so only used a couple of times)
  • Scout tent did not get hot like a normal tent, making lie-ins possible
  • The views over the site from Pennard Hill are spectacular
• Disadvantages:
  • A 4 person scout tent for 4 people was a squeeze. We managed ok as good friends, but I would go for 2 x 2 man tents, or even 2 people in a 4 man next time.
  • You pay extra it's true (but it was SO worth it!)
  • The walk back up to WV is very steep indeed for about 250m. However, they've put in steps which makes it easy. But I didn't find it a problem (all the Everest Base Camp training paid off!).
  • We did 'enjoy' the music from the Hell Stage in Shangri-la until 6am on Sunday morning, which made sleep impossible.

By the way WV can NOT be considered 'boutique' camping or even 'glamping'. Facilities are fairly basic. If you want luxury, go to Pennard Orchard where you'll pay at least £3 to 4k) or Camp Kerala (where you'll pay around £10k). Way outside my budget or inclination.

We stayed both 2013 and 2014 and this year wasn't good. The campsite has become 2 if not 2.5 times bigger than 2013 with the same amount of showers and toilets. Have to say we felt ripped off. We won't be returning, but then again we may not be going at all unless we are extremely lucky in the resale!

I stewarded up in Worthy View this year, and I honestly couldn't see the appeal. It's a huge walk away from everywhere and I heard a few complaints of some of the pre pitched tents leaking. The campsite itself looked very nice however, and those bell tents look amazing. I just couldn't be arsed with that walk back up every night. I can imagine camping in a prime position (Oxlyers?) would be a lot more handy. Could go back for food/beer during the day without worrying about a huge trek
