Five bands not to miss this year

I personally do not have 5 "do not miss" acts this year. Far from it. In fact I dont have one this year. Jon Hopkins comes close, but the fact that he clashes with other stuff im interested in and im still debating what I will do proves he is not a "do not miss".

Last year I only had one "do not miss" and that was Portishead. Thank God I did not miss that. One of the best things I have ever seen/heard, ever.

I think as I get older I take a more and more relaxed approach to my Glastonbury experiences and as a result what gets labelled as "must see" needs to be perceived as super extra special in my eyes to 100% commit to going to it.

Last year was one of my favorite Glastos and I had 1 "must see" act. This year I have potentially none. Maybe it will be the best year ever! :)

I'm definitely with you on that one, I have absolutely no 'must see' acts this year but my approach with the clashfinder has been to hi-light every act I like and then make my mind up at the time depending in how in feeling and what friends are doing. Having done that there is no point between mid day Thursday and 4:00am Sunday (excluding 6am-11am) where there is nothing I like, at some points the clashes are 8 deep.

Yes, Portishead was just truly incredible wasn't it...thinking now how good they were (one of bed music experiences I've had) plus the Stones next night and Nick Cave makes me wonder how I only have last year as my 3rd best Glasto. I wonder if that will change years from now...

(Sorry...haven't read the article this was supposed to be about)
