I've never had an official shower at Glastonbury (though used to pop home from Leeds Fest to have a shower back in the day), however I wash my (short) hair daily with water/shampoo and basically shower with a bottle of water - paying closest attention to the vital sweaty areas and accepting that the boxers I'm about to change will get wet - wouldn't want to horrify my camping neighbours by parading my full junk eveywhere. I reckon I might take one of these this year

...as it will mean a better clean and less water needed.

Having said that, in 2011 - my last Glastonbury, there was *cough* ahem a cause for me to errrr need a decent wash to...well, dot the i's and cross the t's so to speak after something happened on the first night.....as I still had stuff to retrieve from the car though, I went down to the car park, it was deserted so I happily stripped off bollock naked by my boot and had a proper, full scrub/wash with a giant water bottle/shower gel. Very refreshing.

I'm yet to decide on this year's policy....

We used to take a camping shower with us, the kind with the black bag that you fill with water, then leave in the sun outside your tent all day, then screw on the shower head and hey presto. In 2010 it was a bloody godsend! I just stood outside the tent in my bikini and had a proper shower!

However, in 2011, we just heated water in our camping kettle, poured it into our little washing up bowl with some shower gel, then used a flannel for an all over wash. Simple but effective.

THIS is doing it right. Like someone camping like a pro, not desperately pretending they're in a hotel. Gotta question just how reliant you are on things otherwise

Tho the solar shower bags are a nice idea it only really works on sunny days and doesn't hold much, with a stove you can make as much as you like. Best to use eco-friendly shower gel stuff tho, as it'll end up dumped on the ground

  • 4 weeks later...

Reading this makes me feel decidedly spoiled. I get to camp behind the park and shower most days. Don't think I've ever queued more than 20 mins.

All the girls having bikini showers in Dairy Ground are appreciated though. :)

think i may attempt to get a proper shower at some point this year, but i've got a collapsable water carrier that i'll be pouring over myself every morning (maybe every other morning) so that should do me! might buy one of those small paddling pools that somebody posted so that the ground isn't soaked
