Gate with the shortest queue

Problem? No. It's by design, and it's that way every year. Public Transport users get priority over people coming from the car parks, and I don't think it's just a crowd management issue.

It was definitely worse than normal in 2011. We used Gate A in 2010 at around the same time (mid-Wednesday) with no issues whatsoever.

I agree they can't have people backed up into the coach area. But something definitely made it worse in 2011. The car park queues literally got no turns at all for several hours straight. With hindsight it could well have been the quagmire the other side of the turnstiles.

Basically everyone here can only have been through one gate on any particular year so noone has a single clue what it was like at any other gate. People even have wildly different experiences at the same gate.

Beyond that if there really was an answer to your question don't you think Everyone would want to head to the magic no queue gate?

Just turn up, park and go to the nearest gate. Stop trying to give yourself some advantage

There does seem to have been a bit of an arms race over the last few years to get there earlier and earlier.

The car I was in arrived on the Tuesday evening when the car park opened - and we all decided to kip in the cars.

I woke up at 3.30am to see the queue was already snaking past where we were parked. The lesson for this year? We're not messing around in the car park overnight this year, we'll just sleep in the queue if we have to.

Anyone have any experience of gate a from

Car park point of view in 2013? Most of

The stories seem to be from 2011. Any better or held back for ages?

I worked on the gates last year, and except for first thing Wednesday morning, it was very quick.

I believe also queing time were significantly reduced in 2013 than before.

Hopefully we'll be even better this year.

I've always made a point of trying to get their as early as possible, when i started goininf there was bearly anyone arriving on the wednesday morning. Last year though I arrived at about 5:30 didn't see a single car on the A361 and walked straight through the gates, the wriatbanders looked board and seemed pleased to have something to do. Still got what I thought was a great camping spot too.

Just thinking, since they have so many extra staff this year (they have right?) will they have bigger wristband/entry area with more staff? If so there might not be many queues at all! Wishful thinking :)

Avoid the gate which connects to the coach drop off point, they let people through in batches and it took forever in the pissing rain in 2011 as there's also all the people getting of the coaches at that gate too.

Edit: It looks like other people had the same problem! It was my worst Glastonbury experience I reckon.

Last year was much much better than 2011 and 2010 as they had a proper queuing system set up. We arrived parked at 8.30am and we were in by 9.30am and camped by 10am. Blue route and hill of death.

Gate D 9am, walked straight through in 2013, but On, it's a complete lottery. Absolutely no point in planning it to the nth degree, arrive when you arrive, find the nearest gate and you might queue, you might not.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
