Just to be safe.

The giant rocked, I'd just seen a number of characters I thought looked like they had potential for the future and 20 minutes later they were dead.

Cersei's final humiliating moment in that scene was something I'm sure we've all longed to see.

Tyrion still gets the best lines, but Dani has never looked more regal.

The battle was brilliant, loved the reveal that valyrian steel is as good as dragon glass as well, but how is that wight back when he destroyed it?

To answer

It was a different walker. The one he killed had longish hair and a spear, the one doing the raising has been called The Night's King (by fanboys) due to his apparent crown of ice (and apparent lead role).

Yeah, I thought that woman was going to last longer than she did. When she waved goodbye to her kids I knew that was a kiss of death but I was more expecting their boat to sink.

Ah, thought it was the same wight I saw (not the one on the jetty), to be fair I'm pretty lacking in sleep, so easily done.

I usually watch an episode twice, so I'll be better prepare next time.

I thought the fenn was going to be important, coming round to King Crow's cause (great new name for Jon Snow/Stark/Bastard of Winterfell/Lord Commander).

Okay, well, I'll be rewatching later so I'll keep an eye out.

PS, wight traditionally meant "a living thing", particularly women or children, as Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Milton used it A 19th century translation of the Icelandic saga Grettis saw wight used as a name for an undead creature, a Barrow-wight, which Tolkien popularised. In Game of Thrones a wight is the undead "meat" that gets raised up by the "Others" aka White Walkers.

Ah right, I was mistaken, for some reason I recalled that wight was another term for the others (as white walkers didn't seem to get mentioned in the books I'd read) but you are quite right.

Not sure if my answer is necessarily spoileriffic but just in case.

The only reason Daenerys looks any more regal or interesting is Tyrions influence on her storyline/scenes. He's going to carry her for the rest of their combined storyline, however long that will be.

Great episode.

Everyone is lit by the brilliance of the light of Tyrion. Honestly, his character in the books isn't as striking as in the show and Peter Dinklage is probably one of the key reasons for the success of the series.

Going to be tricky to bring many of these story threads to a satisfactory conclusion before the end of the series. We shall see. Episode 9 in GoT tends to be pantwettingly brilliant. (Which this episode was, up there with the battle of blackwater bay and the exploding out of the ground skeletons and brief glimpse of the children of the forest for me).

That was Ep 8, so 9 is next week! More to come hopefully!

As for prior Ep 9's, you missed the beNEDding and the red wedding!

Great episode.

On a second watch I know why...

... she's appearing regal.

She sits up straight and doesn't move her face much whilst she's talking. Check it out.

The last 20 minutes was great. I was thinking the episode was great when Jon was talking to the wildling leaders and then it kicks off! It was so tense and epic and I loved it and is one of the best episodes of GoT in general. The only problem is that the it was clear that wildling woman was going to die from when she sent off her kids. Also Mastodon were extras in the episode which is a nice bonus :D

Well that was brilliant.

I couldn't understand what they were saying at the meet so I turned the subtitles on,they even translated what the giant was saying, think I'll be doing that now on,theres a lot of mumbling in this series

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
