sorry to keep banging on about this, but here are many people who don't have a choice to spend time with their kids or work.

If they don't work, they don't eat, have clothes, heating....

Shameful in the UK in 2014, but true.

So yes, Thatcher's free market did win!

Not at all! But she had a choice between the two. Spending time with your kids would have cost her time. Time that she could have spent earning money. I know people who prefer to work long hours so they can provide for their kids economically. If they didn't work the long hours, they wouldn't have as much money for their children. To state that relationship isn't to make a moral judgement on the virtue of providing materially for their kids. I personally think they're misguided, but they're making a choice, whether they're aware of it or not, that's what's happening.

soo... when you're lying in bed at night, or watching the sunset, or whatever, contemplating what the meaning of it all is, money is the answer, and that's enough?

I think you've lost what this argument was all about- it all started with someone saying they were aghast at so much of politics being about money and that instead it should focus on more important things.

We're not all saying money is our love in life, just that it's a vital issue that you can't ignore- distribution of wealth, global poverty, NHS, public provision of services, working conditions, all I would say are more important that you going for a jolly in a park!

    • There is possibly a weak link in the ticket buying system, no matter how clever the technical controls get. I just spent 20 minutes this morning hammering the ‘Buy Tickets’ button while the web page kept telling me there weren’t enough tickets remaining to meet my request. Eventually it changed its mind and let me buy two tickets. Most likely because of failed payments in the queue ahead of me. So - just like it did in the good old F5 days - pig-headed blind persistence can sometimes pay off.   BTW, the tickets were for the Whispering Bob Harris evening in the Albert Hall on 2nd December.

    • MGK would probably end my interest in this festival completely.
    • The basement, deafheaven, Mannequin pussy clash is v annoying. Also not sure why pinkpantheress is in the tent, surely going to be ramos.
    • It's just this:   Search up which orgs are currently in Tufton St, funded by Koch Brothers, Robert Mercer, and Matthew Elliot.   It's moved on from "Vote Leave" and "Leave Means Leave" into the lobbyists against net zero. It's the same funding from the same people in the same place lobbying our media and politicians.
