Met Office Update is a smidgen more optimistic...

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Turning more unsettled later on Wednesday in the west, with showery outbreaks of rain, probably spreading southeast through Thursday, with the driest conditions in the northeast. Remaining similar on Friday.

Updated: 0325 on Mon 23 Jun 2014

UK Outlook for Saturday 28 Jun 2014 to Monday 7 Jul 2014:

Eastern and southeastern parts may still see some rain or showers on Saturday, but drier weather in the west will gradually extend eastwards through the weekend. It will feel cooler than of late with temperatures around or a little below average after some chilly nights in some northern parts. Thereafter, a return to changeable weather from the west looks most likely, with showers or longer spells of rain at times. Northwestern areas are at greatest risk of seeing some more organised and heavier rain at times, along with stronger winds than of late. The south and southeast should continue to see the best of the drier, brighter weather and consequently, the highest temperatures, rising above the seasonal average at times.

Im struggling to decipher who, on this thread are actually in the know about weather patterns around the Somerset region and those who just want to troll the crap out of everyone and put the fear of god into us all for no apparent reason

Probably best just to turn up and see what the weather's like when you get there. Repeat this each morning of the festival.

As long as you pack wellies and suncream you'll be just fine :)

Wasn't the forcast absolutely terribke leading upto 2010 and turned out the hottest glastonbury ever?

My Facebook status the day before leaving for Glasto in 2010 states that I had just put some hats and gloves in my bag due to the horrid weather forecast. In 2005 I left my wellies at home cos the forecast said glorious sunshine all weekend!! Don't believe the weather forecasts people!! X

Ignore Nal, he's as persistent and unfunny as the NFR NFC lot.

Can't remember a year when the forecast was so uncertain. Still quite a lot to play for...:)

Metcheck reckons 14.6mm over the weekend. Raining Thursday-Satruday. Dry Sunday.

I'm thinking positive......14.6mm is under 1.5 cm which on the grand scheme of things isn't a great amount (hopefully fingers crossed and all that)

Rain has gone back a day on the BBC wesite as well.

http://www.bbc.com/weather/2640282

Im going to read into this way too much

But using my duck powers* and looking at the trends on this forum the rain is never going to arrive because the lowpressure is moving over to France but obviously the front isn't suddenly changing directions but SLOWLY veering off course so day by day they put it back. This is good news, Duck forecast says - Slight cloud, 1 shower on Friday and Sunshine.

Predicted Rainfall - 0.5mm

*I do not have any idea how weather works.

You actually flying up there to have a look, or just lazily mooching about at ground level?

New GFS run on Metcheck showing marginally increased rainfall, plus some light showers on Sat / Sun. But generally nothing disastrous. Was hoping it would show a drier trend though.

TBH the main worry is Met Office talking about heavy showers. Light rain / showers are fine - but if we get sharp downpours that's when things get tricky.

listen bud, we all know how this ends, and it's with me sitting on the ground in a t-shirt and shorts eating a 99' during the forecasted heaviest spell of rain.

So many drama queens on here. It's not going to be like 2007, personally had a great time, but it might rain.

Boohoo it's the greatest festival on earth and if a little moisture is going to spoil it that much may I respectfullying suggest that next year you watch on TV and let the hardier ones enjoy themselves.

2008 it rained then dried really quickly. 2011 it rained then dried up really quickly. In fact most years it rains then dries up pretty quickly.

2010 brought it's own problems due to the lack of shade and heat but we dealt with it.

I ssuspect most of the people having a whinge now will have a great time no matter what the weather. For those of us who have a glass half full we know we will have a great time and will adjust no matter what.

Btw this rant does not apply to those of you with mobility issues as mud obviously causes you more difficulty. In my own small way I saw that while waiting for a knee op in 2007 and recovering from a knee op in 2008.

Enjoy yourselves people it's Glastonbury for heavens sake.
