Arrival

Hi,

We were really slow at getting ourselves together and arrived around 6pm. It took about 20mins/30mins to get in from the back of the car queue then we walked straight through the turnstiles with no queue. We were worried there would be no decent camping spots left but we got in to an almost empty field about 5mins walk from the entrance. However, this was the opposite side of the festival to the late-night area so the walk back every night was a bit rubbish but a good comprimise. If you really really have your heart set on pitching up at a specific location or in Pennards/Park or Dairy then you need to arrive early as possible and be prepared to queue for hours, possibly in terrible weather (too hot or raining).

The less time you are there on Wednesday the better in my opinion, as the lack of music etc. makes extremely heavy drinking very likely, leading to lack of booze and spending all your pocket money!

Location is the same I think but I am pretty sure we get routed round somewhere so are not on the one way bit that long but breakdowns are something we cannot cover, if it happens we queue and stick the music on in the car.

I definately feel happier arriving Weds later in the day rather that leaving it til Thursday morning - we want to spend Thursday wondering and seeing what is where.

as I work there I arrive using the Tuesday Crew Coach these days - the actual traffic jam that happened in 2009 was nowhere near the site - it was not clear what the problem was all I know is the coach driver was sent the correct way but he made a wrong turn and then ended up on a road he could not turn around - just that one mistake cost us and the coach behind us a good eight hours delay and we never found out why - if it was not for the camping gear we would have been quicker walking
When I drive there I always get there dead early in the morning - my crew pass can get me though any diversion and I get well tucked away but there is always a good number of cars { why I cant explain as the public car parks were not open that day }
Good luck.

I'm staying two night mon/tues outside the site, 10 minutes away planning on getting to the car park early hours wed morning. Obviously want to get a good spot, so what time is best to get in the queue?! Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Gotta agree with Grumpy on that too.

For the past three years we have arrived at the site for gates opening time (0800am) so the queue is already moving by that time and I have camped in my prefered spot in a popular field for those three years on the trot. I intend to do the same this year. Arrive in the queue for 0800, never been set up later than 11.

I get onsite Tuesday - but the arrival of everyone on Wednesday brings a huge wave of Energy, Anticipation, Excitement, Singing, Selfies, Fires, Gatherings, Guitars, Bongos, Spliffs, Explorers, Contentment, Happiness and Relieve.

Its a special day.
