Hmmm, I'm so wary about these types of claims.

I've heard it said so many times, and I don't think any of those that I've seen have got anywhere near deserving such hype.

And of course such claims normally come from avid fans anyway, who have lost all sense of perspective.

Saw him at one of the O2 gigs a few years back and said that at the time. He's an incredible all-round showman. Can't think of anyone else I've seen that even comes close.

Don't blame people for being sceptical, I was too, but I went to see him in 2003, pretty indifferent to his music. He played mainly stuff off his new album that I'd never heard and it was Jehovah's witness themed for 3 hours- a recipe for disaster! but it was honestly the best gig I've ever been to- some of the best guitar work I've heard and a great showman.

I didn't enjoy the O2 shows as much ( he had a new poorer band and the sound in the O2 stunk).

He's got a new band now, and I've no idea what they're like, or if he's deteriorated in recent years, but it's worth taking the chance to see him if you have the opportunity. Of course, You may end up thinking him the second coming of Bruce Springsteen, but you might be surprised!

Would love to see Prince. From what I've seen he looks like one of the most accomplished guitar players in history.

You're all going to take the piss now, but a media friend says a mate of a mate is involved in organising the festival and claims he's going to announce he's doing Glasto at this press conference. Yes I know, sounds unlikely, but I'm not ruling what she says out!

Having said that, someone has pointed out on Twitter he's playing in the US on Fri and Sat so I don't see how it can be true.

I was a reluctant fan. I almost didn't want to like him. Then I saw him out of curiosity... and he was amazing. Not the best thing I've ever seen, but pretty flippin' amazing

I know I'm being harsh here but all of the things being said about Prince I could equally apply to some acts I like.

But I'm not that precious about them, and neither am I that deluded.

Some people need to stand back and look at how the world is in 2014.

As I've already posted, if he's playing Glasto he's exceedingly likely to say that he is, and if he's not playing Glasto he's exceedingly likely to say that he's not.

It's very unlikely that the press conf will be over and no one is the wiser. That's not how Prince normally does things.

having spoken with people who've been before, they tell me that he takes questions and is very open with the answers he gives - which is why I've said above that it's exceedingly likely we'll know the score by the time the press conf is over.
