The National

I am the tall one as far as ladies are concerned. It was between me and two others and the roadie threw it to some other woman. Ah well.

So Arcade Fire or The National? I think The National take it based on those two performances. Not that AF weren't awesome. The National were just that bit more awesome.

Ah you got Slipped as well! Me and Dog Burger went to the wrong night.

Definitely! Slipped, Abel and All The Wine! D'oh!

Just got back to work. Still cold inside my bones....

Have to see them again now, to put this right!

Trouble Will Find Me is just breathtaking after seeing lots of it live. AOTY for me, for sure.

I agree, I love it so much more now. Knew I would.

Took me a while to work out what AOTY stood for! It's my SBAOTY for sure. You can probably guess what the first best one is ;)

Superscally, I'm jealous. Really want to see them again!

I've not seen them ever... You can imagine how much I'm looking forward to that. On the same open air stage I saw Nick Cave on last year, which was the best I've seen him!

Amazing :) It was my first time for The National and they totally blew me away. I've not had them out my head since.

Hope you enjoy it as much.

Arrgggh still haunted by feverish dreams of being stood in the foyer arguing with a bunch of dickish security meatheads while the opening strains of Don't Swallow The Cap thundered around the Ally Pally. The appearance of a multitude of youtube videos shot from the crowd haven't helped my feelings of extreme regret either. Need to seem them asap to put this right, but looking at their tour schedule, there's no chance of them returning to Europe before next Spring. Sigh.

Bizarre indeed. I hope the fact they're ardent 'soccer' fans won't mean they rule out touring during the World Cup...

I don't think so. The interview on 6 Music suggested they'll be touring for a lot of 2014, and two people who should know have told me similar - one said that I should expect to see them round my way in the next 12 months and the other said Greenman may have approached them about playing, although they felt Greenman weren't confident of getting them ahead of the 'bigger' fesitvals. All sounds promising for a tour and/or festivals. Fingers crossed!

Ooh, Dog Burger, you may have made my day :)

13th to the 15th of June!

IT'S HAPPENING.

Are they headlining? If so, I'm coming too.

Where's this info come from?

Also would suggest Glastonbury is a strong possibility.

Ah, what to do, blow my beans on a foreign excursion, where they'll probably be headlining, and therefore playing for two hours, thus wiping out the Ally Pally fiasco from my memory, but end my 16-year run of going to Glastonbury every year. OR hold fire in the hope they get an hour on the Other Stage.

Hmm.... both?!

You're going to Denmark? That's dedication!

I didn't get a Glastonbury ticket, for the first time since 1997. I really want to put the Ally Pally shit behind me and see The National do a headline show again. I've always wanted to go to festival abroad, and if I can't get a resale ticket at Glastonbury, there's really not much else in this country that I haven't been to already or holds much interest for me (I'm looking at you V and Reading!). It all adds up quite nicely.

Good for you! :)

It looks like a nice festival. I can't read Danish, sadly, but I think Arcade Fire are on the bill as well.

Yeah, I noticed that. Can't tell whether The National are headlining yet, though.

If they're doing this one, one assumes they'll be doing more through the summer, so I'm keeping my eyes peeled now.

Other Stage headliner at Glastonbury, after not playing at all last year, looks a potential option to me, too, though.

I still think Other Stage headline is a bit high for them. It would be perfect because people would be there for them then, as opposed to waiting for who was on afterwards. I'd still rather have them in The Park.

It's very exciting they're in Europe in June though :D

I've always thought they're not big enough, too, but having seen the crowd at Ally Pally for two nights, and some of the recent media appearances they've been doing, I'm not100 per cent sure anymore. I guess other slots likely would be 2nd or third from the top on the Other or Pyramid or headlining the John Peel. I think, unless you got there about two hours before, the Park would be a total nightmare. Having been at the Radiohead and Rodriguez gigs, it's a shit place to see a big band, unless you get in down the front early.

Rodriguez got a big crowd? Crikey. He was up against the [start of the] Stones wasn't he?

Very glad to hear The National are firmly back in the mixer, especially after prematurely telling everyone they weren't touring next year. :P

Could have done with more acts announced by Northside to chew over for Glastonbury though...
