Scared by headline rumours

But for those of us too young for blur first time around (and I suspect many who were about then), it was one of those wonderful, perfect festival headline sets where everything just fell into place, including tens of thousands of people having the time of their lives. Many call it one of the all time best.

Springsteen on the other hand....I'm a massive fan and made sure I was in the thick of it (not hard at the changeover when the whole Kasabian crowd left) but I don't think the same can be said of him as it can of blur on that particular (wonderful) weekend. I don't think the crowd was into it at all til the end.

I agree that new bands need to get the chance, but each headliner should really be taken on its own merit for me.

No reason to be scared, they're only rumours and, given the news this morning that Simon Cowell has been taken on as a consultant for booking acts on all of the major stages at Glastonbury, you have nothing to fear - your hip and trendy favourites like Leona Lewis and that chap that won Z-Factor last year and that band that came fourth the year before will be your headliners.

Of course, if even this doesn't appease you, you could not pay your balance and let someone who isn't frightened of the possible headliners go in your stead.

I don't see how having an opinion that The Eagles are not my idea of a good headliner should mean that I want to see Leona Lewis instead, or that I should not go at all! Jeezo! Others seem to have got what I meant about parents generation, rebellion etc and have given reasons why they think I'm wrong, I can handle that. I was trying to make a bigger point than just 'complaining about headliners/rumours'. Must try harder next time...

Don't give up yet cloudy! You'll just have to accept that most people on this forum (or those that shout the loudest) won't hear a word against the untouchable Michael Eavis. For them it's perfectly normal for a 77 year old methodist to choose the headlining acts for the biggest, most popular music/arts festival in the world. Generally because whenever you see him, he is always nice.

Or some of us haven't got a ticket and can only ammuse ourselves by trying to think of elaborate reasons why people should give up their tickets to increase our chances in the re-sale.

Weirdly, however, I do think it's normal for the guy that runs the festival to be involved in booking the bands and his religion has nothing to do with it.

Now, be a good chap and stop shouting so loudly!!
