I'd be willing to give them another go (didn't like their Reading performance) but that would mainly be for Comedown Machine tracks and unfortunately don't see them playing a lot from it. If the album didn't justify a tour then can't see it featuring well in their sets.

gutted i missed their secret set in 2010...i fell for that one throughout the weekend. even expected Julian Casablancas on Sunday in John Peel to really be a Strokes set.

have lost interest in them, and their more recent stuff just does nothing for me.

i'll stick to my memories of summer 2002, and a gig I saw them play at some theatre in NY called Radio City Music Hall, with a pretty good support band that don't exist anymore but were pretty good on the night ... a 2-person band called White Stripes.

Always thought they were hideously overrated. One or two decent tracks. There was a stage when their album was getting voted in best albums ever lists wasn't there? :sarcastic:

Saw Albert Hammond Jr live before he and he was pretty good. Better than the Strokes live.

Depends on what "The Strokes" turns up doesn't it? The one's who are moody fuckers just in it for the money, or the exciting indie pop anthem band....

I saw them at their "secret" in Dingwalls the other year and maybe it was just the occasion and venue but it was utterly brilliant but ever since when I've seen them watched them on TV or what ever...It's always looked rather dull and sedated, like they wasn't that interested and they had better things to be doing than performing their songs.

As for their general output, as albums alot of it is dull....but they know how to write a decent single that's for sure!

I think they'll come back with some actual motivation to put some good new music out and enjoy playing some live music, it doesn't really make sense if they don't. Allegedly they released the last album and didn't promote or tour it because it was just an album they slapped together to complete their five album record deal. After that they were entirely free to go their separate ways, do whatever, but instead it looks like they'll be continuing and putting their music through Julian's own label. However, I'm not convinced they'll do a lower slot at Glastonbury for the hell of it when they could still headline festivals or get more money elsewhere for a non-headline slot.

    • Really well done, Primavera. Maybe the biggest name on the lineup as a surprise. (Ecpecially if Robert joins this)
    • There's one way it can get bigger- if Robert Smith joins her on stage
