Successful? Which ISP are you with?

If successful, which ISP?

  1. 1. If successful, which ISP?

On the surface this poll could be 'interesting' but on it's own it says nothing about whether one ISP is better than another. Quite aside from the different factors that also affect it (e.g. browser maybe?) without knowing how many people tried through each ISP then we have nothing to compare it to. e.g. if only 200 people got tickets with Plusnet, and 500 did through BT, then Plusnet would still be 'better' if only 250 people tried with Plusnet, and 2000 tried with BT.

I'm on plusnet fibre and had tickets by 9.31.

Pure luck i think. Out of about 30 different people trying only I and one other got anywhere. Did seem like once you were in all of the browser windows connected and whist I had to hit back a few times at the end I didn't get completely thrown out at all.

It may indeed just be luck but at the same time it's interesting that my iPad, for instance, would not get to the holding page on BT Broadband. Flicked to 3G - holding page all the time. Flicked back to Broadband - nowt. Flipped back to 3G, holding page consistently.

I got the holding page far more regularly with 3G than my Broadband ISP. Even on the same laptop, I had one browser not connecting and one through every time. The difference? One browser was via TOR so the ISP was masked.

So yes it might be luck and just the volume of connections but I find it quite interesting.

It is luck and nothing else.

Once you have established a server session you're likely to have that session successfully refresh.

That's all there is to it.

More to it than that I'm afraid. It does seems certain IP's were throttled.

When one can constantly refresh on O2 3G and the page loads evertime vs a Plusnet fibre connection not loading the page once... More than luck involved.

No, just luck.

Once you get a server session established then that session is MUCH more likely to be re-served than 6you are to establish a new session with another browser or device.

Luck, and nothing else.

    • I don't think they are too big for Castlefield these days. They've not had a new album for almost a decade and they like playing smaller venues. Maybe multiple nights is another option as they do like residencies
    • Second half of next week I would expect for stage times.
    • made a last minute decision to go to Belladrum festival.   it was absolutely wonderful.   never been before, to be honest I think I was expecting a stage in a field and a burger van, but its nothing at all like that.   the site is beautiful, its small enough to get around, but big enough that there are things to discover round each corner, there are a good number of small stages tucked away.   you could quite easily convince yourself you were in Glastonbury in places.   I may have only been one time, but already learned a valuable lesson - the site itself may be Glastonbury like, but the "general camping" campsite is very much Reading like! as the morning mist rises... its a view like the Do Lung Bridge scene in Apocalypse Now...   so if you are not 15 years old, go to family or quiet camping which is fantastic.   its a real family friendly festival to - loads of families and kids of all ages running round and stuff for them to do.   I would 100% recommend it, and I really can't see any reason why I wont be going back next year!   🙂
