A Level Results Day

Sister was also picking up hers today, school fucked up and didn't send one of her grades to UCAS and she didn't quite get what she was expecting so she's still waiting to hear back from the Uni still.

Also, my parents won't be happy as they was paying for an maths tutor at the weekend for her and she got an E in one of the maths exams. Shame about the result for her overall but makes some of what I said to my mum about her buying education justified.

On another plus side, she did no better than me and I got into my first choice course so atm I have a good chance of becoming the golden child

We sat in the car park this morning waiting for daughter to come back with the dreaded envelope and watching kids come out with various looks of horror, delight and resignation.

Really felt for every one of em. The last people in the world able to deal with that level of anticipation, stress and implication are teenagers.

But you pay it back as a percentage of what you earn once you've left uni. So ending up with a better job doesn't really help in regards to this, especially as you have to be earning over a certain amount to have to pay back anything at all.

When my brother went to uni last year we worked out, based on an average doctor's wage, that the interest on his loan each year would be greater than the amount he pays back every year, so it'll never get paid off, it'll effectively just be an extra tax until he's 50 (I think that's when it gets wiped).

I'm planning on doing the same thing as him, so the situation will be exactly the same for me.

Nah its designed to protect those in power who had free tuition, strangely more rich people ;).

It would be better just to have a proper graduate tax that everyone pays, especially since those who benefited most paid almost fuck all in comparison to kids now who need a degree for basic jobs.
