Co-headliner/subheadliner also makes a difference in your placement on posters (and font size and such), which some artists find important during negotiations.

As for that Nick Cave deal: The tv ad mentioned Nick Cave as a subheadliner. So I'm assuming he officially was meant to be the real sub, but they didn't want to have the huge genre clash (not to mention that the front rows would be packed with Rammstein fans) and thus put Volbeat in between to smoothen the change.

I could see/expect some of the following if not all from the Coachella announcement:

Beck, Foster The People, John Newman, The 1975, Ellie Goulding, Alunageorge, Lorde, Bastille, Bombay Bicycle Club, Empire of the Sun, MGMT, Haim, Naked & Famous, White Lies, Cage The Elephant, Grouplove.

No real surprises in that bunch but pretty average low down acts I would imagine.

Also see Dropkick Murphys, Slayer, Kasabian, Foals, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Alice In Chains, The Pretty Reckless, Rudimental, Royal Blood, Stromae, Interpol, Warpaint and Imagines Dragons turning up.

I asked the Rock Werchter page if we'll be finding out the final headliner this month and they replied with: "We actually don't know yet...stay tuned!" so it seems they actually haven't even booked the final headliner yet...Pretty useless info from me! But ah well..

    • A few snaps from Sunday, which was huge fun, plus Happy Mondays, Radio Free Alice, Fratellis and Pale Waves. We didn't stay for The Streets, as after 3-4 songs it felt so downbeat compared to the rest of the day, and i've got another hectic week at work incoming.
    • It was fine, just hectic! The youngsters were mostly very well-behaved. The weather was a real bonus, although surprisingly chilly evenings - I guess it's the altitude - and the area between sound and main stage was a massive dust bowl.
    • Ive always had a lot of time for the mighty Shots, a pal of mine used to commentate on their games for Sussex Counties radio and he'd sneak me into the ground for midweek games, and we'd even nick a tea and a plate of sandwiches. This is back in the George Borg days, so um . . a little while ago now
    • Hmm, weird- Rush are playing the Co-Op live on the 12th and the 14th, and Megadeth are the meat in that sandwich - so they have to roll everything in, roll it out again, only to roll it back in and then out - here's hoping for a prog hokey-cokey with all manner of bizarre time signatures and drum solos!
    • Depends what you mean by seeing 'more stuff' about it.    I definitely don't trust the original Sun article.
