Rock Werchter 2014

Has the Foo Fighters rumor cooled down or do you guys think they are still a possibility? What about the Rage Against the Machine rumor?

Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard said in an interview a few weeks back that PJ would tour Europe in June. But they are not at Download Festival or Rock am Ring. Rock Werchter must be likely then don't you think?...even if RW isin't until early July.

1. Rumours are going stronger that Pearl Jam is sealed for Werchter. Apparently they don't enjoy playing at hard rock/metal fests, so that could explain the RaR/Download absence.

2. Foo Fighters could remain an option, but it depends. Cause once again, if they do European fests this Summer, I would've written them down for RaR etc as well. But who knows? We still need a 4th headliner next to AM, Pearl Jam and Metallica (those 3 are more or less certain now).

3. I personally think RATM is out of the deal. Hurricane have announced 2/3 of their headliners, and I figured they'd announce RATM first. And yet again the whole 'no Download etc' thing. Plus it was 50% certain a couple of months ago, they can't be negotiating that long, can they?

Would be too much metal in the same weekend. Also, Sonisphere is their last date of the tour, so Metallica playing Werchter on Thursday and Iron Maiden playing Knebworth on Friday or Saturday would make a harsh thing to fit Werchter in there somewhere.

None, Belgian radio confirmed Metallica will close the main stage, so they're breaking with the 'Thursday dance headliner' tradition :)

I'll think they'll compensate by putting dance headliners after Arctic Monkeys and Pearl Jam, and then The Prodigy, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Chase and Status or Major Lazer are the main competitors.

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
