If you consider the Stone Roses this year - promoted by the same company as Arctics, and the same one who does TITP - they had two dates at Finsbury Park and one at Glasgow Green, both announced at the same time. Arctic Monkeys have had two dates announced for Finsbury Park and T could be the Scottish date in place of Glasgow Green. It'd still be immensely popular. Plus for some reason Finsbury Park is 16+ which excludes a sizeable portion of their fanbase.

They're not as bad as people make out to be fair, caught the end of their set last year at Reading and Florence herself was great despite the rain. I kind of want it to happen, seeing as it would be refreshing to the festival scene having a new headline act in the mix

She was god awful, fucking stupid shit in between the shit songs. "OHHHH I LOVE THE RAIN ....I AM GOING TO TAKE MY SHOES OFF OHHHHHHHHHHHH I AM SO HIPPY AND DIFFERENT OHHHHHHHHH OFF I GO TO GET IN MY NICE WARM WINNEBAGO AND DRY OFF".

I actually liked her a little bit when her and the machine were first about at Festivals.

That's my point but for some reason a lot of people seem happy with the same old bands going round in a two or three year cycle. For the world of me I cannot seem to comprehend some who would be happy with KOL as a headliner. Each to their own and a that

The headliner repeat list is because those acts are big enough to headline rightly or wrongly and shift tickets as people want to see them. What are bands supposed to do, get big enough to headline do a few festivals then stop touring and give it all up? (I think T tends to bring bands back, a tad to soon mind :P Looking at you Kasbain!). I just don't get how you can expect something that radically different for the mainstage headliners every year

It's not up to bands but up to organisers to take more of a risk with headliners, they don't take risks or very rarely. Reading took a risk with Arcade Fire and now they can headline pretty much any major. Then again they took the risk with razorlight and they didn't push on from that. Glastonbury took the risk with muse/Coldplay and they pushed on and got supernova, then again skunk anansee headlined and never pushed on.

There will be a time when Muse will have headlined a UK festival for about the 50th time, coincidence that ticket sales are down because lineups are repetitive?

    • Personally, I do hope Fontaines headline next year. Feels like it's their time in terms of the contemporary element - I know 2028 could equally be but I think (and speaking as an old git) they are probably the most significant band to emerge for a good few years, and they've already accumulated 4 great albums, let alone adding 5th, to field a memorable setlist.

    • Alright fair, I thought she only did BST once. Though I do question how that type of pop show will translate to a stadium.
    • yeah, but I enjoy moaning about them too much so whatever I guess.   and besides... a few years from now there will be absolutely nothing on TV except for Coben based shows so I'd best get used to it...   🙂        (for anyone who has ever read a Coben book - are the books as utterly sh*t as the tv shows???)
    • Those in the Glastonbury ‘Tour’ thread buying tickets noticed it when tickets first went on sale.   And if you look at the blocks still on sale here https://www.axs.com/uk/events/1489025/muse-tickets?skin=theo2 blocks 410-414 definitely stand out as the only seating areas without tickets available, so appears that they still haven’t gone on sale.
