Yoghurt on a Stick
I believe your shot is taken in a Scottish motor museum grumpyhack. I've got a photo of it when it was in action. I think it's such a lovely engine that it warrants two posts at least;

whisty
So I read - Pic taken at Bristol city docks. The ladder - AKA the gut-buster, Bangor ladder (with Tormentor poles) or Kent killer. The ladder was designed to replace the 50 foot wheeled escapes and Kent Fire Brigade was the first to use them. They were so heavy (nearly twice the weight of modern 45 ft ladders), and had less effective tormentor poles, crews found them very hard work. Feeling "like death" after using them and blaming Kent for their introduction was probably the reason for the nickname "Kent killer". mandolin
Custom and practice last year showed that I was only able to post pictures when sufficient quantities of alcohol were consumed. I've certainly had enough to drink tonight so here's hoping ... Yup, I am now officially pissed! Have a great weekend all.
