Vast improvement? Or just the Dance Village with a new name?

I reckon vast improvement, with livelier and more atmospheric venues than the anonymous east/west tents, and the silent disco/sonic combo was good. Actually felt like a destination rather than a depressing wasteland between JP and the Other Stage.

Some good stages (the blues was good for half an hour) but I said on another thread I didnt like the atmosphere at times, certainly different feeling compared to the rest of the festivals.

A lot of people off their face in the middle of the day, gangs walking round in big groups and people just looking for trouble meant I started to avoid the area.

I thought the area had vastly improved. The Gully was fantastic. not impressed by the Sonic stage though I'd rather have the old Dance East stage back.

As for accusations about the people in the area I saw nothing anti-social, and I did spend quite a bit of time in there.

I didn't feel at ease walking through it after hours! I went to see some reggae band on the Friday after I'd been to see Miles Kane in JP Tent, after 2 or 3 minutes I was being offered drugs of some kind! Ruined my vibe having a listen to something different and got out right away!

Too much sound bleed between the stages (including being audible in John Peel for quieter bands which is annoying). Vile toilets. Rubbish food stalls. People off their tits (and not in a good way) screaming and barging past. People pissing against walls. Security all over the place pulling people up and searching (I saw three incidents on my way through on Friday afternoon).

But worse than that is that Rizzle Bloody Kicks played at BBC Introducing on Friday afternoon. Urgh... ;)

I agree the area is a little rougher than the rest of the festival but dance music does attract different people. However the area can be avoided if you want too and it will keep the groups who barge away from the other areas.

The Sonic stage was a real disappointment. Went to see SBTRKT and it was incredibly quiet. Was ok once in the middle area but just meant having to get through everyone. The WOW stage was great though, really good atmosphere in there!
