I dont know how to link from FB on here but on Shangri La's Facebook page they have said if there is to be rain let it be Purple Rain, along with a Picture of a little kid dressed as Prince

Anyone know any more?

They are basically just mentioning 2 things that will not happen and out of the two impossibilities they would like Purple Rain rather plain old rain........... ;o)

I still think it's incredibly unlikely. However, they do have a control over entrance and numbers at shangri la, so it is the one part of the festival where they could handle a special guest that big.

oh don't do this to me! if i come away from Glastonbury and find out Prince played at some point and i missed it i will be pissed! he's been doing a lot of very low-key gigs lately so it's not totally preposterous to think he'd play somewhere small at Glastonbury if he did play. if word got out, though, oh dear..

well ... if Glasto are having to hunt around for a Mumfords replacement, then this close to the festival* is about the only chance they have of ever actually booking Prince.

(* so i've heard, he won't confirm a booking until about 6 weeks before a show).

So while I doubt there's anything to this, with the Mumfords situation you never know, there might be.

Back when Prince did the 21 Nights in London shows I purchased some tickets to one of the after-parties. After some time it looked like Prince wouldn't show so me a my partner simply enjoyed the classic disco/funk DJ and hit the dance floor. It was pretty empty and there was a guy stood next to us watching us dancing and he gave me a big grin - we were having a pretty good time.

Suddenly, the stage sprang to life, and the few people who where in there started murmuring with anticipation. The lights went down and there he was, the prince of purple! You would not believe the noise a few hundred fans could make! The atmosphere was electric and Prince and his band proceed to play hits,jams and rarities till the sun rose (we left at 5:30am!)

At one point I spotted the man who was stood near us previously - he was the keyboard player - and someone told us that Prince had poked his head around the door when it was quiet to see what the atmosphere was like.

It was an amazing night! (Was anyone else there?)

Having said that - I don't think he's going to make an appearance at Glastonbury - not this year anyway.

I know no more than any of the public statements.

But to me it seems very quick for the guy who's ill to be recovered enough to start gigging again by this Saturday, which is what is currently planned.

So who knows? Glasto might have to go looking for a replacement.

Could it be that he was going to do a secret gig but if Mumfords do pull out he will be bumped up?

I dnt think he would but id love him too. Tho i did win a comp years ago when the ubternet was young and he allowed websites about himslef. I won a ticket to a secret gig in london. Was in a small basement bar there was bout 100 people. It was amazing. Sounds like the kinda gig hed do lately rather than a headlne style slot. Still unlikely tho
