Miles Walked

I had a phone with a pedometer on it a few years back. It worked out we walked 60 miles during the festival, and it felt like it! And we only arrive on the Thursday afternoon

I know they arent the most accurate but I would be surprised if we walked 15 miles each day. My calves and blisters were telling me so anyway!

I reckon it's a good 3 mile round trip from car to tent via gate d, we do that about four times, its a good couple of miles cross the site, 8 miles if you walk the length of the fence. Easily 8 miles a day I reckon if not more.

8-20 miles per day can be typical, according to what has been in previous pedometer threads.

I have been walking alot lately to build up my fitness and have been using an android gps walking app to track it, sadly I'd never have the battery life (nor fear of Russy for owning and being willing to take a smartphone) to use it at glastonbury, but I've certainly considered it.

It's almost exactly a mile from the top of the camping above the pyramid by the farmhouse to the top of the field with the stone circle in. From the end of the railway line by Shangri-La to the John Peel tent is 1.2 miles. According to Google Maps anyway. I reckon I probably do 10 miles a day easily.

I wore a pedometer in 2011. Remember looking at whilst intoxicated on the first night thinking it was shed loads then experimenting to see how much it continued to rise whilst dancing in wellies/thick mud... It was lost by the morning.

My job this year will mainly be walking about for 12 hours a night in the south east part of the site, for the last few months Ive been going on at least one 20 mile walk a week, if Im walking for 12 hours I may do 40 miles a night as it takes me about 3 hours to walk 12 miles .

3 nights of that is 120 miles apart from normal walking about the site

On the Sunday in 2011 I still had a couple of spare batteries left so decided to use one of them using a gps tracking app for the day. We definitely walked less that day than the previous days because of tiredness (from all the previous days' walking!) and it still amounted to 8 miles. It was also 1.5 miles from our camp in Dairy Ground to where we were parked on the other side of the A361. So I think around 50 miles is a fair guess for the whole festival.
