2013 Map changes, a summary.

My mate camped in Dragon's in 2011 (I was camped in Big Lickle working for Oxfam that year). I last camped there in 2010 (and every previous year since 2007). In 2010, half the Dragon's Field 'strip' (the Shangri-La end), had already been given over to steward camping. We camped there initially, but were then told to move on by security. Williams Field next door had gone totally crew camping. The other 'Piano Bar' end was still available to camp in for punters however so we picked up out tents and moved up to that end. Then in 2011, the map showed again that the Piano Bar end was available for punters, however when you tried to get to Dragon's you were constantly reminded by security and stewards along the way that the whole field had actually gone totally steward / crew and you should not go there to try and camp anywhere in the SE corner. My mate did anyway, but only managed to camp on the slope at the top end right next to the Piano Bar up by the railings. There was a mixture of crew and a few other regular punters up there. This year I would not be surprised if its probably totally locked down against any punters trying to get in there with security controlled gates. However, the Piano Bar might still be up there so some access will have to be permitted again at the top end.

Always good to see the latest map come out.

Shame that the Glade has gone though.

Can only see a few stages/tents in Silver Hayes. No where near as many as old Dance Village. Is that all we get? Can't see the old Cube-Henge in Silver Hayes and what's the XPX thing? Can't find any info on that one.

The Glade was excellent, in the heat of 2010 we spent a bit of time there sat under the trees, and loved watching The Levellers year before.

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
