This fantastic set of FAQs by Tort should be a good starting point: www.glastoearth.com/the-faq

There's a fun thread about what to bring here, thanks to Luscious Lucy: /topic/80617-the-uber-uber-uber-list-thread-to-end-all-list-threads/">http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/80617-the-uber-uber-uber-list-thread-to-end-all-list-threads/

And in terms of when to arrive? As early as you like! Gates open at 8am on Wednesday so if you can arrive on Wednesday, do. There's lots to see and do before anyone's even thought about putting a band on stage!

Don't overplan the days as there will be too much to take in. Take a copy of clash finder for each day and pick 5 or 6 bands a day max otherwise go with flow. Hope to see you at the Efestival meets welsh new boy in a welsh stick together sort of way

Not directly what to take but what to be prepared for. Lots and lots of walking. Probably 15-20 miles a day, so well worn in and comfortable walking shoes or boots and good socks.

Hmm top tips for a newbie...

I would say pack as light as possible, its a hell of a long walk from car to campsite at least a couple of hours, can be double. You will probably find you don't use half your stuff anyway, and you don't want to be doing two trips.

Don't bother with any food or cooking stuff if you can afford not to,its a pain having to cook and clean pans anyway and theres so much good food available

Cashpoints...one year we ran out of money on the saturday and the queue for the ATM was 4-5 hours so we decided to leave the site and go to Shepton Mallet,we were back in 3 hours with more booze and treats on top

Also have a nice lie in on monday, there is no need to pack up first thing and go, you will only sit in traffic anyway, leave mid afternoon, much easier

bloomin norra...where do you camp...or do you walk slow?? :)

never used a lock up before, of any kind - will this year. My friend swears by them! he uses them like a 2nd tent in a way. he puts a bag in with spare stuff in like waterproofs, few beers, some backy, sun cream...what ever really. Then whens he's wondering around site and wants something...a lot of the time the lock up is closer than his tent.

Yep Thearg, you're right, you might not actually be walking for all that time but last time we were about 6 hours from car to camp because if the queues - that's a long time with a lot of stuff on your back.

Another tip for newbies - have a good breakfast because you'll get so caught up in things later you won't want to stop to find food. And don't forget to keep your water intake up - all that walking and dancing especially when hot can make you lose a lot of fluid

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
