That's not really taking into account though the way Glastonbury is portrayed or viewed in media or culture. Rightly or incorrectly, the general thing around discussion of Glastonbury is that "its more than just the music" and its generally portrayed as "something to do before you die". In popular culture its presented as the number one festival, and I think that has a massive impact.

Glastonbury hasn't really sold out though has it, in fact it hasn't really sold any tickets yet? All that's happened is that 138000 people have reserved the right to by first in the queue to buy tickets when the balances are due in a few weeks time, They have paid £10 for this honour (£50 paid up front, £40 of which can be refunded to them if they cancel) If people decide they don't actually want to go, or find another line-up they really like now, then there may be a lot of people not paying their balance and lots of tickets left to sell

I doubt that will happen though, irrespective of when they announce the line-up

Interesting that it couldn't be before today, could Glastonbury have agreements/secret handshakes with other festivals? Maybe it's just a mass signing of contracts today :P

As for it selling out, that could easily change. For we all know the demand over supply could be around 160,000 punters to 138,000 tickets. That's still enough to get alot of people who want to go to complain, but its demand that could easily slip with a poor lineup one year, muddy festival or if the papers/people who follow fads think its no longer the cultural event of the year... to fall below the sell out line.

WOAH GUYS

I don't know, take what i'm saying with a pinch of salt. But my friend who is an emerging talent finalist, which also has a slot in a lower stage on another day. Has been told that he can officially announce when he is playing this friday. He said that the information would also be public.

So sorry if that sounded a little muddled, he was allowed to confirm his appearance publicly on thursday (which he did) and he's been told that his placing will be public on friday.

Sorry if I explained that really badly but does that mean that the lineup is coming on friday? Possibly?
