I don't really get the bad vibes towards Plant. Compared to most people of that generation and in particular that genre (if you can broadly class them as "hard rock"), Plant has done some very interesting and diversive things in recent years.

Jimmy Pages creative juices were flowing for years while Plant just sang really. A lot of it wasn't even singing actually. He was really just complementing the other three instruments.

Some of the stuff he released in the 80s was as bad as anything released by any major artist in the history of recorded music.

Now hes in a place where hes working with - and fucking - some of the best musicians around and is genreless and free and people get the hump because he won't go out and sing Whole Lotta Love in the Rose Bowl or wherever. In his mind it would put him back years in his career.

The reunion in 07 was good enough. Its out on bluray, they sounded great and cemented their legacy. Also, John Bonham is dead which is an issue people don't seem to want to recognise.

Zeppelin, like a permanent reunion Zeppelin, without Bonham?! Nah.

exactly. I'd rather have Percy's current career than Jimmy Page's.

I read Mick Walls biography on Zepplin recently. There was a quote from Plant around the time he lost his son. whist Bonham hardly left his side the other two retreated to their own lives. Plant is quoted as saying he through he had closer friends but he was clearly mistaken.

Considering how things turned out, it’s not hard to see that the romantic view that they would all like to perform together or plant owes either them or us a reunion is a bit fanciful.

As much as i'd wet me pants at a Led Zep headliner!

Yeah. Jimmy doesn't have a current career, as much as I love him.

In fairness to Page, he was in the depths of a severe heroin addiction at the time and was no use to anyone.

Also Mick Wall. Has written a few patchy books, including the one you read, where he takes wild liberties. He ended a biography on Bono by saying something sphincter-clenchingly cringing like "Bono may have not found what hes looking for but we hope hes around and keeps looking for years to come".

  • 2 weeks later...

Jimmy Page looking to record an album and go out on tour "next year".

"I haven't recorded the material I got because I haven't had a unit due to all the comings and goings of these albums. ... I want to be seen playing this new material, say next year."

Exactly! he probably believes it is 100% about the future now and not the past.

Must be so annoying for him to be continually asked about it when hes trying to promote his own stuff!

Everything he has done for the last decade (his last 4 albums) have all been nominated for multiple Grammys - Raising Sand won album of the year - and he has critical acclaim oozing from his pours.

Lazy fuckers just want to hear him sing Stairway every night.

And in fairness, he does loads of Zeppelin tunes.

Pinkpop from last weekend.

I'm really looking forward to the Saturday afternoon/night on The Pyramid.

Plant / White / Metallica, gonna be epic.

The thing with Percy & Jack White, they have songs that most of the punters will recognise. I'd be papping myself if I was anything to do with Metallica after those 2.

They will realise that, I'm sure they will be fighting to make the gig work. But they have just done rock am ring with similar strong undercard so I don't think it will phase them.

I dream that they drag Percy on oneside of stage and page on the other to cover Kashmir

I had a Meyallica playlist on in the kitchen at work, the staff vary from 46 down to 16, they all knew a few.

Mostly from Guitar Hero and other video games, wrestling etc.

I think the crowd will know more than people are thinking

It may do. They haven't fallen out or anything.

John Paul Jones is the one who gets pissed off more than the other two regarding being left out.

Page and Plants faces from 6 mins 20!

awkward...

Was going to make a new Plant thread but thought Id post in here. That video is nearly 20 years old now and the 3 are on a lot better terms, especially when it comes to involving Jones as he was part of all of the interviews for celebration day and recent interviews.

Id be pretty shocked if Jimmy Page didnt come on for one song, maybe to do something like Dazed and Confused so Page can do his solo. I cant ever see Led Zep doing Glastonbury now so this is the only chance of seeing at least 2 of them on stage at once.

For info this has was his last festival setlist from last week

Most of his recent sets havent really changed from that, Id be pretty happy 5 Led Zep songs

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
