Right so who's everyone going for as there headliners for rockness 2013 as I've found it really hard to pick any this year !

I'm going to go for qotsa, Calvin Harris and bloc party !

I reckon they will try and tap into the T Market a bit more this year

It had better be an instantly very high quality line-up that appeals to a diverse range of people.

They have only 5 months to sell all the tickets so will have to have things right from the first announcement, or the attendance might be low.

I can see a few surprises with the announcement coming, QOTSA will turn a few heads as it is as you wouldnt normally associate them with Rockness, there is a possibility they might not even be a headliner... Still sticking Calvin Harris down as a headliner. Almost has an old school feel heading it to it... festivals didnt used to always announce acts before January :P

i reckon qotsa, prodigy and calvin harris would be a massive coup for them

would also be a huge dent in TITP

calvin being a tuts regular, prodigy always draw a big crowd and then qotsa as theyre that rock aspect T's missing ...

i'd be there if its this

still no word on when we'll find out neil ??

i wouldnt be surprised at the vaccines subbing. (i know RN doesnt really do subs)

really hate this idea people have that bloc party can headline ... i like them and have seen them twice but i dont think of them as a headline band.

thats exactly what i mean about prodigy... they're always a big draw at T and to take them away would put many people off ...

me personally if there are decent nme headliners at T i would possibly still consider a ticket. prodigy being one of them.

think they would prefer a headline performance.

I just find the fact that they are of a similar popularity in the UK (I think) yet Bloc have just released their 4th album whereas QOTSA will be releasing their 6th so are clearly stuck in that rut although by 4 albums you could say the same for Bloc

Personally I much prefer QOTSA but I think they are both of a similar level

I usually consider that the 'cult' level, where they are always going to have a core group of fans, but no more to really get bigger, not the worst place to be in, consider they can still make albums and sell out certain venues for the rest of their lives, and in aspects do what they want. Offcourse they could do, say a Black Keys who have probably been in this area for almost a decade, and were lucky enough to make someone that catches wider audiences.

Back on topic... Jack White?

qotsa, jack white and prodigy would be phenomenal, not gonna happen though

although the jack white thing may be possible as headlining will fill his ego (which i didnt realise he actually had)

if he did play i'd love these guys to play, although i dont think theyre rockness style ?

they recorded their album on his record label, supported him in the US and play on his album

great band !

Absolutely none of the acts mentioned so far would tempt me to buy a ticket. It's just a different festival now than tthe one I fell in love with but I understand they've got to do what they can to flog tickets. Just a shame we'll never see an act like The Flaming Lips headline again.

    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
