It upsets me greatly that people still believe WEPSIATWIN is the ultimate Arctic Monkeys album.

I think Suck It and See is the best thing they've ever done - and I've only realised this over the last few months. Never really gave it the chance when it came out, unfortunately.

But either way, I am most excited about the Monkeys than any other headliner this year. Can. Not. Wait!

gotta give it to the Monkeys. most bands in their position would've reverted to first-album heavy sets by now, but they stick to their guns and continue to play new-album heavy sets, as obviously they're very proud of their newer material. they must know that the crowd wants the first album back to front, and that material probably gets the most applause at gigs. it's easy to play all crowd pleasers. it's a challenge to play lesser-loved tracks and still get such great reception and remain festival headliners

Had a peep on setlistfm just now, looks like they've never ever played Piledriver Waltz like, that's upsetting, that was the stand out track of Suck It And See for me.

Once we got Arctics confirmation, the writing was always on the wall for Stones and Mumford to happen, we were all just scared it wouldn't be Stones and scare it would be Mumford so there was lots of craziness for a while.

i'd argue in terms of superstardom, 2011 clinched it - U2, Coldplay and Beyonce are unarguably some of the biggest names in the world. hell, members from all three acts are friends with the president of the United States! (not that that matters - just a fun fact that sprung to mind)

whilst Arctics are definitely a strong headliner, they do seem weak in comparison to the absolute hugeness of the other headliners (yes, even Mumfords)

2008 was a very weak year headliner wise. wasn't paying much attention to Glastonbury back then but can imagine the reception to those three can't have been the warmest (even if Kings Of Leon weren't as hated then as they are now)

as big as the Stones are, when i think of this years headliners, i think of the colour brown. that pretty much sums it up for me

any combination of Prince / Radiohead / Arcade Fire / Daft Punk will do me for next year. i don't ask for much

I think this year will work more as a catapult (I'l explain).

Arctics are going straight back onto the map, they are going to get the coldplay treatement. They have been lying pretty low and quiet for a year so, moved on from a couple of peoples minds. But this will bring them back into the limelight and bring extreme attention, this fifth album will sell incredibly well!

The rolling stones, arguable are bigger than any glasto set of headliners we've ever had combined. The stones are bigger than U2, Coldplay & Beyonce. They are in the historic section. Their name will bring the majority of star power this year.

Mumfords even more than the monkeys are on the brink of becoming THE biggest band right now. After this just like coldplay were they will catapult to insanely high levels and this will be the headline performance which defines them as the next big global festival headliner.

In my opinion, you'l look back on this year in a year or so... and THEN the headliners will look incredibly strong. For example I swear beyonce has become bigger than ever right now! Majority of the attention I've heard from people I know have been because of glasto!

Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Stone Roses next year I reckon. Works for me because 3 bands I like and would watch, but only Arcade Fire is a must watch, so I'm free to head off the mysterious beyond should something else take my fancy. I think people are getting too carried away with the Gaga doomsday scenarios, look at the recent line-ups, the Pyramid hasn't become that debased just yet. Point to Beyonce if you wish, but remember she was a last minute switcheroo.

Would Stone Roses really be a big enough pull without any new material? It would be their third year touring, demand would surely have significantly reduced by then.

I am gonna say Arcade Fire, Radiohead and Daft Punk (cos i can still hope). With Ga Ga, Kasabian as backups.

Ideally Prince (or Bowie))...though

Stone Roses working on a new album that should surely be released by then. i still hope it isn't them though. never has a band lived off the successes of one album as the Stone Roses have

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
