Word Association Game

Shame about that Oneeye. Next time you must come and say hello. Good to put faces to names. I'll be there along with Drewstrat from this forum plus three others - one old hand and two Glasto newbies. I've even got a Grumpyhack T Shirt with my avatar on it, so you should be able to spot me.

Aha, that's handy. I have an avatar tshirt I wear to a later meet, so I'll switch that to Weds instead, and get support off oneeye too. Good news on tickets then.

He'll be ok I reckon, plenty of help offered on here.

I did turn up to this year's meet but observed from the fringes with Mrs Oneeye; no one had name stickers on so wasn't sure who was who, and not really knowing anyone we wimped out :)

You and me both then, maybe we were stood next to each other. I even walked past the group into the bar and out again. Call me a coward .....................Mind you I was looking for Grumpy, Cyclops & a Brandy with Coke in but none visible :)

Maybe we should start our own Word Association Fringe Festival - for those on the fringe of the EFests Meet.  Given that I've always said that festivals are where the friendly people gather and the EFests boarders are some of the friendliest of the bunch we really must meet up next time.

I aim to be caravanning in CV East, so if any of you are doing the same we could even have a CV East Mini Meet.

Well we do descend from our vans and come in every day to meet up with lots of friends in tents.  For years we tented at the top of Big Ground until we moved on to a trailer tent and then finally a caravan.  The problem is that once you've got into caravanning it's very hard to go back.

I can imagine; maybe one day we'll campervan it. Big ground used to be my area of choice but nowadays we find the west side areas to be a tad more spacious; must be getting old!! :)

I am old - that's why I caravan.  Nothing to beat your own flush toilet for those middle of the night moments. But I'd strongly recommend a caravan over a campervan.  A campervan is just a small tent for two on wheels.  A caravan, depending on size, can generally sleep four in comfort.  It's also a lot cheaper,

Start spreading the NEWS...

I'm up for a CVEast / WAG / eFester meet. We're arriving on the Wednesday about 4, and may just make it in time for the eFests meet, so another day and time's better for me. We'll probably end up around E19, Madeiran and Catalan flags on a fishing pole off the cycle rack, with fairy lights if anyone's looking out.

Ah, well, I'm in the campervan group then. Each method of camping seems well represented here. We bought ours off my parents when they got on a bit for long driving sessions. You're right, it can be small. Luckily MrsCJ and I know each other quite well, so it's ok for us, a 4 berth one. Gets cramped when my cousin's snoring from the made up bed though, in June, just the 2 of us sleeping off the 3am campervan cocktails (spirits and mixers in plastic bottles, natch).

I like the q all night option waiting from 21:00 tues night for the Q to move 50 yards at 04:00 then stop for another 3 or 4 hours. Can't beat it especially when there's a nice Dew around. All that to get in Big Ground because the youngsters refuse to camp anywhere else. I toyed with a trailer tent last year, maybe this year or next will be the one.

We finally sold our trailer tent last month to the father of the son-in-law of one of our gang (if you follow that).  In many ways I was sad to see it go as it did us for a good dozen or more festivals and in many ways is still the best social way of festival going with so much space under the extended awning.

I'd certainly recommend it above a campervan if you are planning to stay anywhere for for than one night.  We had two good sized, comfortable double beds, full cooker etc and lots of storage space along with a big social area.

Good effort there whisters; personally I'd need a kip. We're only 70 miles down the road in Devon so we rock up around late weds morning, west side nowadays as there just seems to be more space / quieter etc....., horses for courses and all that mind you.

It does make me smile how some youngsters actually survive the 5 days with little more than a £20 pop up and alcohol; oh to be young again :)

Cheers for the advice there grumps. Indeed a caravan is the way ahead, only issue for us is parking and a 1.25l Ford Fiesta to tow it haha. Oneday, maybe, one day.........:)

If you've only got a Fiesta the issue is the weight of the towcar to the weight of the van.  So a trailer tent, which has very little weight would be fine.  I stored mine in mother in law's garage.

Some caravans are lightweight.  My first was a Lunar, who specialise in relatively lightweight vans.

I store my current caravan, a Coachman Amara 520/4, at a secure site at Magor near the Severn Btridge. Storage cost about £300 a year.  But the Coachman is a relatively heavy van, hence my change of car last year to an Audi Quattro Allroad 2.5 Turbo Diesel.  Emissions are probably awful but with permanent 4WD I reckon I should be able to tow through pretty poor conditions and it should be good just as a road car if we get a bad winter.

Love to meet fellow WAG's next year.

Not tied to the coach either (thanks again oneeye), so will be in earlier, though don't plan going the the whisty 9pm Tues route :-)

Still enjoy the camping thing, though have looked at the possibility of caravan/campervan fields.

Already own two tents, but bought new and lighter tents for this year, and spent ages searching for the perfect tent.

Bought the perfect tents,..only for them to leak.

Manufacturers recalled them, so we ended up getting a full refund, so the search is on yet again for that elusive "perfect" tent.

The criteria for a perfect tent is none too complicated either,.. massive, yet 10 kilos or under, so not asking a lot  :) .

Dragonflies.
