I think that's one of the problems, they aren't telling good stories as much due to the desperation. It's so evident when watching WWE programming especially since the Lesnar comeback.

The main issue I have and have had for years is the heavily scripted nature of the show and the lack of progression from the characters as a result. Nothing organic about it.

Even during a promo when someone elses music hits as a surprise the guys in the ring don't react. You can nearly see them trying to remember their next line.

All of the great wrestling characters came about organically. Through trial and error in a lot of cases. Something wasn't working, they tried something else. Now, they're stuck with a character and become stale very quickly. Randy Orton for example. Hasn't changed a thing in over 10 years. Daniel Bryan has been the same for 3-4 years now, Cena etc. Its all too predictable.

Hit the nail on the head with that.

Punk was the last great character IMO, purely because they let him do his own promos.

This may or may not be the best place to ask. but I'll give it a go.

I am currently organising a draft fantasy football league with friends and have got to decide a fair & fun way to decide the draft order for our league (who gets the first, second, third and so on picks)

I have decided (after reading some ideas online) that we are going to do an all cpu Royal rumble on a WWE game (after picking wrestlers out of a hat), My question to you all is which WWE game would you recommend as the most exciting royal rumble action (remembering it will only be the cpu competing)?

I currently only have newer versions of the games (12 & 14) which don't quite cut the mustard (especially 14 - which is shocking). What do you suggest?

It was a pretty average PPV which is pretty representative of a pretty average period post wrestlmania. I think losing Lesnar for a few months was a big problem as he had got so hot and while still over, I think the momentum has stalled slightly. I also think that Reigns has run out of steam after being booked well for a few months following the rumble.

Rollins was made to look a bit of a chump in the main event, its almost like the world champion has to step aside to let the "real stars" shine. Im not convinced he is ready to be "the man" yet, but following from Lesnar was always going to be tough for a rookie champion.

Just caught up and to be fair I thought Battleground was alright. Although I did skip through a few matches (I really do not care for the Tag division in the slightest right now - I watched more of the divas than the tag match)

I too didn't think the Rollins v Lesnar match was booked correctly, I hate when they start booking the heel champion as a coward. They easily could have had Rollins get a shock cheat victory (using a weapon while the ref wasn't looking or something similarly annoying) and had Lesnar continue the beating after the finish with Taker then interrupting. I'd rather the champion be a cheat (opportunist as they like to say) than a coward.

I did enjoy the brawl between Lesnar and Taker on Raw on Monday though - which normally when they have loads of wrestlers/security holding people back I think its very forced - but there was real animosity between them, if anything they are going to build this match too well - I cant imagine taker can keep that intensity up for too long these days.

Thought it was a terrible show, Cena/Owens was very good but not on the level of the first two matches they had.

All they had to do was have the gong go off, Lesnar and the ref look towards the entrance, Rollins hits a low blow and gets the win, Then end the show the way they did. Was a shame as I really liked the build up to Rollins/Lesnar, wasted in a 10 minute main event. I hope Rollins doesn't job to Cena at Summerslam if they are facing each other (not seen Raw).

Lesnar hasnt been pinned for a long time. Despite him holding the world title, I dont believe WWE see Rollins as being at the level to pin their biggest star.

8 minutes! WM31 was only 16 minutes.

Lesnar has only wrestled 5 matches since Summerslam last year. Including that 2 minute match vs Kofi. Rarely goes above 15 minutes nowadays, even for triple threats. A proper Hulk Hogan contract!

If Taker is fit - which he looks - I wouldn't be surprised to see one last run from him. Lesnar beating Taker clean again makes no sense.

Shortest main event in WWE PPV history? Hogan beating Yoko but that wasn't really a match was it.

Taker should do one final run and end it all at Mania.

I was hoping for more of an American Badass sort of gimmick on his comeback. The rest in peace shtick has been boring and borderline cringing since 1997, or whenever it was the Mankind feud sort of ended.

Shortest main event in WWE PPV history?

Just checked. Cena vs Khali at Judegment Day 2007, 8 mins 15.

Sunday was 8 mins 22 seconds.

If it was up to me, I'd book it so that in the coming weeks, Undertaker makes a real point about avenging the streak, but at Summerslam he would come up short once again. Then on the following RAW, he would come out and say that he has let himself and everyone down again and that Summerslam is the last Undertaker match anyone will ever see, only for Sting to come out and challenger him to one last showdown at WM32.

Didn't Brock beat The Rock at Summer Slam in 2002 for his first reign with the WWE title in 7 minutes?

Im pretty sure it was around that length.

[EDIT - It was 16 mins apparently!]

[EDIT 2 - Brock lost the title to Big Show at Survivor Series that year in just 4 mins 19 seconds, I remember everyone being so pissed]

Sorry im a bit late to the party here been away, but yeah, Undertaker coming back and attacking Lesnar made no sense and it fucking sucked!

1- why is Undertaker pissed, because Lesnar beat him, but in the segment on Raw he doesn't even seem that pissed about him beating him but rather that he's bragging about it.... erm so fucking what.

2- Undertaker and Lesnar were in the same building at Mania, why do nothing then but do now, he hasn't even really mentioned Taker that much since then , the t shirts etc were last year.

3- if you want a match v Lesnar, why not let him win the title first then attack him then you can beat him for something that matters to Lesnar, the title, after all, isn't he all about wanting to be champion for the money?

4- Undertaker looked old as fuck, Lesnar took more offence from Rollins and breezed it off, how the fuck would he have gone down to Taker at Battleground, it looked weak, it stunk, it was awful! The writers are complete idiots.

What a load of shit.

What a load of shit.

Im personally ok with Brock having short matches, its not as if they are the 10 minute stinkfests that used to main event wcw on a regular basis. These are great high impact matches and I think its a case where longer wouldn't be better.

The only relevant logic when it comes to undertaker v lesnar is business is down and they see undertaker as someone who is available and can boost ratings. Undertaker V Lesnar doesn't need the title, where as Cena v Rollins (as the second biggest match) does. As for undertaker I thought he looked fine and the crowd are hyped to see him back. I also think it makes sense that undertaker offence has more impact than Rollins as it fits his deadman gimmick, but also I suspect wwe still don't see Rollins at the level of the undertaker. I know if boith feuded who would be getting the most offence in.
