Never been to Download

Ive just been to Reading for the first time and I found out there are alot of ****s there! i've always wanted to go to download but never had the chance to. I was just wonder what its like at download because i would like to go next year but not if it's full of teenagers just there to cause trouble and act like total ****S!

Well, you can have ****s at any festival but I been to both and I generally find the atmosphere better at Download and I think that is due to crowd they attract.

It was worse this June than previous years, while this year's Reading was better than previous years, but DL's typically not as bad.

Main thing about avoiding idiots is don't camp at the edge of pathways and don't camp in the absolute nearest campsite to the arena, whatever festi you're at.

yeh. It just annoys me though when alot of people go to a festival just to get of their faces. Yeh i like a few beers but i do also go for the bands!

Which ever one has the best line up next year i'll go to that one. I did enjoy reading alot, especially foos and green day! i just didnt like some of the people there.

I think I'd much prefer Download as a day ticket goer than weekend. I wouldn't go for the weekend again, no chance.

I was camped this year at Leeds as close to the arena as possible, no trouble at all.

I've gone to Download twice and Leeds three times so my sample size is a little small but I've never had trouble at either fest, but Download's crowd is absolutely better than Leeds. I imagine it's similar if not a little lessened at Reading, but there's there's far too many idiots (my own age funnily enough) that just don't seem interested in bands, but in having some form of chaos. Last year it was like Lord of the Flies as we walked through the campsite at 7pm.

Download's crowd just seem more interested in the music and give the bands a lot of respect. My only problem with the Download crowd is their inability to stop shouting stuff that's just flat out not funny anymore, but that's just me, I know people enjoy the 300 chant, and the infamous buttscratcher.

Also has to be said, still a few dicks around at Download, on the walk of death to the arena some guy in front of us was shouting random crap to get people to chant along, turned round at us who looked unimpressed by this and he just randomly started calling us C's and B's, for absolutely 0 reason. Best part is when I pointed out he had an Angels and Airwaves T shirt on. His friends just slapped him and laughed.

Leeds crowd is far better than Readings. So if its the line up you go for, try Leeds! Download always has a good crowd. Oddly I did find this year a little less friendly than previous years, but could have just been everyone was grouchy due to the rain.

I've been to every Download (all 10, go me), a couple Bloodstocks, the 3 Soni's which actually went ahead and also did Reading from 2002 - 2008. Apart from the riot year of '06 Download generally the better in terms of crowd. Reading by far the worst, too many kids away from home for the 1st time. Downloads crowd generally older which I am appreciating these days at the grand old age of 27.

reading the last 2-3 years has been fine. very little trouble and this year was he quietest i can remember.

Been to reading leeds T and DL and the latter is the only one i'd return to. Found all of the former to be full of tossers. While T has a really ominous vibe about it, Reading and Leeds steal the show when the greatful punters thank the organisers by helping them take the festival down...... then burning it.

But yeah, always feel safe at DL. Awesome fest.

Oh and Soni's safe and well run. If it's running next year.

Can't speak for Leeds, but as I said above Reading the past couple of years has got a lot better than it used to be.

Reading is a pleasant place to be nowadays, all the jerkoffs seem to have gone to V along with the chart-friendly music.

In the arena that may be true. However, the atmosphere at Download is a lot more friendly than chaVfest. I would say Reading is the worst for the things that you describe (haven't been to V for nearly 10 years)

I found DL far worse than Reading this year in this aspect.
