Biffy are still up , just breaking into the mainstream properly and getitng to that size.

Atm how popular Bloc Party are actually atm remains to be seen, depends on new album but just can't see them being as big as before.

Thank you :) and all though Sonisphere went up the $hitter its other headliners included Metallica, Slipknot, Rammstein, Iron Maiden & Linkin Park and it was one of the countries biggest festivals.

Anyone that doesn't think Biffy are going to be headlining festivals like Reading in near future is deluded where as Bloc still have it all to do in my opinion that being said both could well be headlining in years to come.

I believe they went down very well as Soni but i do see your point but i don't believe either acts have the 'goldust effect' really and no one/(not enough) in there right mind would pay £90 to see either of them they would need a decent undercard and 2 other big headliners to cushion them.

Also Bloc Party haven't really been quite there and they left on a bum note and shoddy last album where as Biffy have gone from strength to strength but all that been said before on the topic of should Bloc or Biffy ever headline etc.

I think Co-Headline. They are both big acts but neither I dont think should headline R&L on their own. But if I had to pick. I'd say Biffy.

Obviously. It's the solution to everything.

My point was more that saying 'Biffy have gone from strength to strength' isn't entirely accurate. Lots of fans of their earlier work (myself inc.) find Puzzle and Only Revolutions quite boring. I have less interest in seeing Biffy now compared to 5 years ago, while I have (very very slightly) more for seeing Bloc Party. Neither would get me to buy a festival ticket though.

I reckon Bloc Party will headline next year as they haven't done anything this year. Biffy have opted to play a couple of festivals this year which I think is silly as there won't be as much demand for them at Reading next year as people would have already seen them. So I think Biffy will headline 2014 after touring the new album.

To be honest I think either could headline Reading, however as far as being the bigger money band it's got to be Biffy.

I know all the Bloc Party fans would love to think otherwise based on that "culty" factor but Biffy are the bigger band and unless their new album is a commercial shambles (which is doubtful) Biffy could potentially step up to eventually headline a number of different festivals. I could see them headling Reading, Download, T, Isle of Wight, V or even Glastonbury if they get the same kind of airplay and mainstream success of their last Album.

Bloc Party could do Reading but unless they pull something miraculous out the bag I can't ever see them taking a headline slot on the Pyramid stage or being elevated to headline status for a prolonged period of time !

They kind of strike me as a Queens of the Stone age level band. Always the bridesmaid and all that!

I think if Biffy were to headline they would put on an averagely good set, whereas if Bloc party were to do it, they would put on an exceedingly good show.

Although I'm a bloc party fan so would say that.

It all depends on bloc party's next album, if its a pop/dance album then I wouldn't want them to headline. However if its more like silent alarm and as popular, I would be all over it.

Wouldn't complain with either band. However if Bloc were to headliner, they would need 2 other strong headliners alongside them.

Agree with what JusticeForceDave said also, couldn't see them headlining any other major UK festival. Would love for them to be given the chance to do reading though.
