2013 Headliners

I think they could swing the Pantera reunion thing with guests filling in for Dimebag's parts to be honest. I don't think it'd go down as bad as Queen certainly, seeing as it'll have been the first time something like that's been done for Pantera - and if they chose the right guests and not the guitarist from Maroon 5 or whatever, your metalheadz crowd aren't going to get up in arms about that too much.

The fact that Zakk Wylde is friends with the band and a fully fledged Pantera nut would just about make it credible, especially if it was some sort of dimebag tribute.

not 100% sure about the relationship between anselmo and the rest of the band though,it was ropey at one time.

on another note,i wouldnt mind Down coming back.

Yeah I personally never would have thought they'd have the popularity in the past to be headliner sized. But I think despite a lack of cross-genre appeal, the fact that since they broke up, and especially since Dimebag Darrell's death, Pantera have been hyped up beyond belief and placed on a pedestal as one of the biggest acts in metal of all time, and therefore I think it could be hyped into being a credible headliner as a sort of "tribute". Obviously they'd need 2 other credible headliners, both probably bigger bands like Maiden/Rammstein/Slipknot/whoever, but I can't see too many complaining about it, and as it'd be somewhat unique it'd shift tickets.

Aye if they do any English festival(s) then I think Reading and Leeds would be the frontrunner. Far enough away from their own shows so won't have too much impact (plus reading always sells well regardless and GD would go down a hell of a lot better at Reading I'd imagine), especially after the secret set this year. Could see them maybe doing TITP in Scotland if there's no Scottish tour date, and Oxegen in Ireland too if it's coming back.

so... it begins...

Thrash Hits@ThrashHits

So...who wants to hear this Download Festival 2013 headliners rumour we just heard?

Thrash Hits@ThrashHits

(FAO Everyone: we are doing some "fact-checking")

Thrash Hits@ThrashHits

RUBBISH HINT: None of them played Download this year. Or last year.

Thrash Hits@ThrashHits

None of the bands originate from the same country as either of the others.

so on the basis of this being true (not saying it is) i would guess at an american band, a german band and australian/british wink.png

    • I think it happened a week ago. Btw, Ela Minus looks like a great addition for the opening free day now. Anyone been to this venue? Is there like a closed place or they just put an open air stage somewhere in the park?
    • I see the weekend tickets have sold out. When did that happen? I recall seeing that Friday day tickets had all gone but was surprised to see today that weekend ones had too.
    • I thought some time back that I could see Get Down Services getting a slot in Woodsies
    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
