reforms are ALWAYS about the money, so that's the reason why R/L had those bands and Glasto won't get The Smith first if they ever do reform.

I say "always", but if Talking Heads ever reform I reckon it'll be about something else, about certain members being re-credited for the credits that were 'stolen' from them.

But Jay-Z wasn't huge until much more recently in this country - probably since Glasto 2008.

I just think it's worth noting, from a predicting next year POV, that, for a festival supposedly about 'new music', there has for the last 8 years been a headliner who has not been headlining off the back of new music. How's that?

A lot of the older bands that have headlined (those that aren't reformations) have done so when releasing a new album though, so i guess they are headlining off the back of new music, even if the band themselves aren't new. I do get your point, but i don't think anyone has ever said that the festival is exclusively about 'new music' but rather it tries to lean towards that side of things with the undercard, and likes to give newer bands the chance to progress. I do think there will be at least one older band headlining next year thoguh, and i'm not really trying to disagree with you, i just hate all this talk of 'patterns' lol

OK, fine. But I was responding to Neil saying that reformed bands don't play Glasto because they don't pay so well. Blur reformed, they played Glasto. If the Smiths reformed there's every chance they'd play Glasto.

Blur are a very different case. They never "split up" as such, they all just moved onto doing different things. And on top of that Damon Albran is a massive fan of Glastonbury and a friend of the Eavii, to the extent that he's at the festival every year whether he's performing or not.

Morrissey is not a fan of Glasto, but he's long known a very big fan of money, as shown by the bedsit boy having turned into one of the biggest landlords in Manchester, plus the money squabbles with other band members, and of course living as a tax exile.

To maximise income, which is what reforms are about, you need the shows that pay. If The Smith's reformed then they'd do something similar to what the Stone Roses have, where they maximise their cash-in.

It's easy to see why one of those would take the low-paying Glastonbury show and the other wouldn't.

It's NIN subbing Tool that astounds me. Desire to see both has been ramping up over the years since they last played/went on hiatus, but NIN when they announce their reunion will definitely be bigger than Tool (also won't happen for a few years yet).

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
