And yet it's still the case that they're doing what they're doing because they feel they have no hope, because society is marginalising them.

People don't do these sorts of things when they feel they have something to lose.

quite surprised by those on the tv saying this is exactly the same as 1985.. effectively saying the huge amounts of money that have been spent over the last 25 years on youth workers, community projects, diversity officers has been a complete waste?

Something which is officially declared a riot leaves the govt liable for the riot damage - it's in the Riot (Damages) Act 1886.

The govt will resist as long as they possibly can from actually declaring these incidents as 'a riot'. Few of the '80's riots were formally declared as riots.

The office racists are having a field day with all this. We have already had the 'you don't see the polish rioting' and 'the polish seem to get jobs ok through hard work'. The racists are even supporting the Asian population becuse 'they don't riot' which is a first for some of their tiny minds.

No - I'm saying it was all okay to destroy people's jobs and homes, and livelihoods and services - until it was visually represented by flames or looting at which point the same thing (effectively) happening to other people - suddenly becomes an outrage? And I'm suggesting that's a double standard. Both are the different sides of the same coin - surely we were all at school when they gave us a proper education about what causes riots - and it's not just boredom - I refer you to the Clegg interview I posted given by him before the austerity measures hit.

How did the French stop the riots there?

I think it amusing that the Home Scretary thinks they can trace the Blackberrry users - of course the kids of today are all on pay monthly not pay as you go sim cards. I would also like to know how both she and the police think they are going to 'identify' kids aged under 14 - are they asking schools for the annual school photos - it's not like be on any database - although worryingly, no doubt the Met has records of every kid that hangs on the London streets.

I asked: "I hope you're not out rioting."

He said: "Yes, I'm out coordinating attacks on shop fronts using social networks and texting to cause havoc with my fellow youths."

If they're teens they could probably go to TFL as teens get a free oyster card which lets them travel where they want and you need to submit a photo which is kept on a database.

Isn't it funny that the only govt organisation to get a budget increase this year are the Met Police?

Anyone might suspect that the govt knew this was coming. But of course it's got nothing at all to do with the biggest robbery in history, it's all just about criminal feral kids robbing a few pennies.

Judging by how Reading Festival stopped it happening there I'd suggest providing much more after hours entertainment for the little darlings and bringing in Specialized Security to patrol London streets with big 'Ghostbusters' fire hydrants on their backs.
