Condolences to Gary Abletts family, I remember seeing him a few times playing for liverpool when I used to go ocassionally in the late 80s/early 90s. He wasnt a great player but someone who seemed to work hard and make the most of his talent, a bit like steve bruce.

Thing is - it really doesn't look like a foul. You be the judge gents. Around 1min10 secs. Shortly after Kuyt _clearly_ says something to Evra on the ground - the report denies this.

Think the FA's report really is flimsy and gets flimsier the more it's probed. It could easily, extremely easily, be torn to pieces by a good lawyer as there's far too many contradictions etc.

Arsenal continue to have a tendency to shoot themselves in the foot. From memory I cant think of another top premiership side who has been punished for stupid red cards as much of them. They still really should have been able to hold on for 10 minutes though.

Great win for Fulham again, not a clue whats happened but we seem to be doing really well against the top 6 this season (Minus United). I think the luck has just fallen our way in those games a bit with red cards, but it's all evening out for us in the long term at least. Great second half anyway, my biggest criticism of Jol is that he only gets us playing well when we're losing, at least it leads to results like that when luck falls our way.

I don't think a top 4 side can get away with trying to hold a 1-0 lead for 45 minutes anyway, Arsenal were holding on before the red card. There really is a gap opening up between them and the likes of United.

One would have thought that Liverpool have hired the best lawyers around who have investigated all of this thoroughly as theres millions of pounds at stake here, one of their best players reputations and the clubs reputation. ("Klanfield" already starting to stick, and not just from Utd fans).

But it seems its been left up some Uruguayan lad from on one of the LFC forums to clear the issue up here and his word has been taken as gospel.

From one angle I agree with you completely. But from another, what's been posted there does raise some interesting questions if nothing else.

For example, I speak (badly) a little French. If I'd heard something said to me in French and was asked to repeat it, I'd say what I'd thought I'd heard. But would what I thought I'd heard be the same as what was said? Not necessarily.

Because of the limits of my understanding of French there's the distinct possibility that I'd perhaps change some of the words (particularly the smaller ones that put the context onto the bigger words) to fit what I was able to understand rather than keep what was actually said.

Commoli obviously speaks some Spanish - how much I don't know - but even if he's 100% fluent there's still a possibility he'd do similar word changing with the distinctly different Uruguayan dialect of Spanish in a way that's similar to what's outlined with that LFC forum post.

I've not yet read the full report (and might not ever do due to lots of stuff that's keeping me busy right now) so I've no idea how crucial that sort of thing might be to the panel's conclusions, but it does seem to me to be a little risky to conclude someone is telling porkies because their version doesn't match with the version of someone who doesn't have the same native language and whose knowledge of the dialect used (if not the whole language) is poor.

And on top of that, fully matching versions of an incident is generally regarded as suspicious in a UK court of law. A magistrate or judge is quite likely to conclude that fully matching versions is the result of collusion rather than the accurate re-telling of the truth (tho whether a magistrate or judge is able to work from their suspicions of collusion is another thing, because of legal rules they have to go by). Two people are more likely to have two different versions of an incident than they are the same version.

As I say, I've no idea how something like that might apply in this case; I'm merely hypothesising.

Problem is Woodster, it's addressed in the report:

of people from Montevideo do use the "tu" form (in contrast to Buenos Aires, where it is

rarely used) or even a mixture of both. In the interview with Mr Suarez the transcription

indicated to the experts that he uses the "tu" form of the verb, though there are other

filmed interviews published on the internet in which he uses the "vos" form of the verb.

Given that he has spent some considerable time in Europe it is possible that his use of

Spanish alters between Uruguayan and European contexts. It is also possible that Mr Evra,

who may have learned his Spanish in Spain, where the "vos" form is not used, may, when

recalling the incident in interview, have rendered Mr Suarez’s usage as the "tu" form, even

yup .... but winning the league matters so much because of who would win it in Utd's place.

You'd want Liverpool to win less than you do if it was (say) Chelsea that were the title challengers.
