King Kenny sure does have a teflon coating to those Liverpool sympathisers on here. I do agree that he wasn't 100% behind every signing, but am amazed at the slack he's been cut given their general level of performances from Liverpool this season.

There's two ways of looking at the 'performances' tho. In the end I guess it comes down to whether a person takes a half-full or half-empty view.

Both the performances and results have been pretty dreadful since xmas, so I'm going to ignore those completely on the basis of them being a blip, or the result of Lucas's injury and absence. That might sound a bit 'convenient' of me, but Spurs' results haven't been much different over the same time period and no one is clamouring for 'Arry's sacking.

So in the first half of the season the results weren't great - and is good reason for criticism. But along with that the team was playing well, dominating nearly every game, and making a hatful of chances. Where it went wrong was with the conversion of those chances.

It turns out that L'pool have had the worst conversion rate in European top-level football (not really a huge surprise). So really, with all the same players, what's the chance of that happening again? Even if they don't improve any as players, luck is likely to run more their way way over another season - and if L'pool had hit the conversion rate average this season their position would be much much better.

'Arry has been cut huge slack, and there's few who'd say his players aren't better. So there's something else going on with the focus on Dalglish. It ain't as bad as some want to push at people.

I disagree, Im sure he has said some stupid (as has everyone) things over his career. However when he did sunday supplement on sky he talked more sense than the others (admitedly not much competiton) put together, also very influential in terms of footballers rights, which unfortunately have gone too much the other way.

I disagree, if that story is true then its just a stupid, possibly more as it makes no economical sense. The story of liverpool linking one price to another is clearly a case of liverpool realising they had overpaid and coming up with a story to cover their backs.

It *might* be a cover story, or it might not.

The story goes that the Torres sale was agreed at £45M, but they went back to Chelsea and said they now wanted £50M cos of the Carroll price, else no deal.

I'd have thought that Chelsea, or Torres, or someone else involved would have come out and rubbished that story if there was nothing to it.

Any club would understand that any team would not want to lose their prime striker at the very end of the window unless they could buy a replacement, so while Chelsea would have disliked being bumped up £5M, they'd completely understand why it might have to happen if they wanted the deal to go thru at that time.

I fully accept that it might be a cover story, but there's easy reasons why it might not be....

I have a friend who sells second hand dvds on a market stall,if he gets luck and buys a dvd cheaper then he should, he doesnt then reduce the price he sells it to keep the profit constant at a certain level, he sells it as expensive as he thinks he can, to maximize profit. My friend has no business experience but just an element of common sense. Any idea that liverpool (a big sporting business) would go into a series of transfer deals restricting the amount of profit they could make is unrealistic.

It's nothing like the same thing. The important word that is missing from your thinking and doesn't much come into your mate's business is "budget" - the budget they had to spend on any replacement.

£45M would have been a big stretch on the asking price for Torres as it was. Most people would have probably said he'd go for a fair bit less than £45M at the time. None of the press reports before the deal got anywhere near to £50M with the prices they said it would happen for.

So to get £50M is astounding.

Either Chelsea are the worlds biggest mugs who'll happily pay waaaay over the top for any player, or there was something else going on to force them to pay that amount.

As I say, I don't discount the possibility that it's a cover story, but I don't dismiss it out of hand either. There's good reasons why it might be true.

Yes, you think his signing have been shit, but you can only think about who his signings have been. If you're wrong about that - and you certainly don't know you're right - the whole basis of your arguments is nothing.

His PR has been shit, but it's also that the press are out for him. The proof is 'Arry. So even that is not all it seems.
