Should have put a bet on that 2-1.... Had been mulling over it as well....

Pleased with the results, except that I'd bet on QPR-Pool being a draw.... Arsenal had clearly hit form and were never going to be catchable, but Spurs and Chelsea are still within sights point-wise if not GD. Really need one of them to win the FA cup and finish 5th, although facing Liverpool in the final or dropping to 6th would do.

Spurs are falling apart as I think both me and Neil predicted. The goals have dried up and Arry has no clue how to put things right. Still no criticism from the media, why am I not surprised. If they dont improve quickly a resurgent chelsea could catch them

Wenger continues to make a mockery of predictions of arsenals demise earlier in the season. People claim they have this huge fragility but they seem to be doing ok to me. Now their injuries seem to have settled (Sagna coming back was particularly huge) they are showing that they are clearly in the top 4 sides in the league.

Liverpool continue to be huge underachievers in the league, to only be narrowly ahead of swansea when you compare wage bills, experience and expenditure is really poor. Bit of a reverse of normal with them managing to get a couple of goals but the defence not doing their job. Im not sure doing well in cups can completely take away from such a mediocre season in the league.

As for Man City it seemed fate that tevez would be involved, the winning goal could be a turning point like giggs v norwich.

Watching the Spurs games they played no different to they have all season really, just some of those 1-0 wins they fought out against Sunderland, WBA the luck has swung and sees them not getting the lead. They still got an extra point on Chelsea (Who still have to go to Liverpool and Arsenal?) so I don't personally see them getting caught.

From what I've seen Spurs haven't particually dropped in form, just they've had some tough matches combined with bad luck. I reckon they'll win most of the end of season run-in though, as beyond Chelsea and Sunderland most the sides they play won't be good enough to cause them the problems an Everton or Stoke can. QPR might have something about them too though.

The weekend is a big day I think, no way Chelsea could come back from an 8 point gap. 5 points is pushing it imo too, but if they win then pressure is really on spurs.

The basis of me saying that were two things:-

1. Spurs don't have a squad that's any better this season than last season, so them getting more points always looked unlikely.

2. they don't have any real goalscorers in their squad, who can bang them in all season long.

The better league position has been the result of Arsenal and Chelsea falling away rather than any real improvement by Spurs, but with Arsenal and Chelsea now getting their shit together the position of Spurs is being exposed for what it was. Having said that, Spurs might have hung in there because those other teams might not have got their shit together.

Spurs's scoring in the early part of the season was suggesting that I might be wrong with 2, but as I pointed out at round xmas, nearly all their players had already got close to their season average by then so were unlikely to continue scoring at the same rate as they'd done until then (I made an exception with that for Bale, who is still an improving player). That's looking like it was spot on .... and don't forget, Spurs have only managed to keep the goals flowing at points since xmas by the acquisition of Saha (which I've got to say was a small act of genius by 'Arry, given how few he'd been scoring at Everton).

Spurs have Chelsea at the bridge on Saturday. I'm thinking that after that match Chelsea are going to be right on their tail.

I laughed a lot last night.

While their league form hasn't been good, I still think that luck has run against them to an extent - I think it must be unusual for a team to make as many great goal scoring chances as they have but end up with as few goals as they've got.

But that aside, there's too many in their squad and in the teams they put out who are too short of the skills to be a top player. The fact that Bellend has shone as much as he has bears that out.

I nearly wet myself last night when Mancini had Tevez warming up 30 minutes into the game, after he'd said he was only good to play for 30 minutes at the end. Talk about rubbing it in.

the teams they have to play might not be good enough. But what some will be are determined enough, cos they're fighting to stay in the league.

The difference at the bottom this season is that many of the teams right down there are the sort of teams that people think are doomed every year, yet pull it out of the bag at the end and stay up.

That might not apply to Wolves this time but it's too early to write off any of the others just yet.

I do love just how blinkered Utd fans are about their own club, wanting to believe that only they're honourable and all other clubs are scumbags.

If Utd were so honourable they'd never tap up players under contact to another club - something which has a been a constant during all of fergie's years, for players of any age.

The same applies with Utd as it does with shitty - that anything is acceptable in the hope on winning trophies.
